Good hotel close to the centre of Hersonissos but in a quiet location slightly up the hill. Beware, though, if you book through a holiday company transfer as coach transfers cannot manage the narrow street so you have to walk up the hill with your luggage unless you pay for a taxi transfer instead. It’s not that far but is a bit of a pain. Clean rooms with a kettle and tea bags but milk not provided. Has a fridge in every room. The bathroom is small and there are no pegs to hang clothes on and no shelving but there is a cupboard under the sink. The shower is pretty small too but is powerful and has plenty of hot water. 2 good pools for leisure swimming. The restaurant is on the top floor with nice views over the rooftops towards the sea and the inclusive food was good if slightly repetitive but the inclusive wine wasn’t that nice. On tap beer was fine. The staff were lovely and very helpful, particularly Christian at reception. A decent hotel to stay in for a quiet holiday without children.

We booked this hotel through Jet2, and it was advertised as a 4-star. However, I don't think this is a 4-star. When you are dropped off, you are told the coach cannot get directly to the front of the hotel, so you are dropped off on the main road and have to walk to the hotel. It's not far, but it can be a little confusing as a new arrival (the rep gave us a little map, which helped). When we arrived late, we were given access to the restaurant, and a pre-made meal was available with access to self-serve wine, beer, and soft and hot drinks. This was very welcomed, and the night manager was very attentive. We paid 49 euros (for two people) in hotel tax, which wasn't explained by Jet2, but I knew about it from friends, and it is based on the star rating per person per night. The hotel, in general, is very clean, but our room was very small, and the balcony wasn't really big enough for two people to comfortably sit. The bathroom was tiny, and the toilet required us to sit at an angle. The shower was small, and the curtain constantly clung to you, requiring towels to be put down on the floor. There were plenty of towels, a safe and a kettle (in the wardrobe!) There were some tes bags but no coffee and no milk. A small fridge was also in the wardrobe under the shelf with the kettle. There was no iron or ironing board, but we got one from reception for free. There was a very good AC unit in the room with a remote, and as advised by staff, it didn't work if the patio doors were open (which is good as AC needs to be in a sealed room). There was a large smart TV on the wall with a few basic English-speaking channels, mostly news, but there was a facility to stream from a tablet/phone through the hotel wi-fi, which was very fast and reliable. We stayed in October, so I dare say that entertainment might have been better in the main season, but there was no entertainment other than a saxophone player on the third night. The only areas for drinks and food were the restaurant on the top floor, which only had specific opening hours, and the small pool bar, which didn't have many snacks other than a few dry goods and some ice cream. The all-inclusive drinks were basic, the spirits were local and not very good, and the cocktails were very sweet, but the beer was good. Most people who sat at the pool bar were making their entertainment, such as playing cards or playing pool on the dated and not very well-lit pool table, which I think charged 2 euros to use. There was some music piped, but it was quiet and not very contemporary - more like lift music. The restaurant was on the 4th floor, and there were stairs and a lift, but the lift was small, and its priority settings were a little off (e.g. you got in and pressed four, but it went to ground because someone had pressed the button). The food in the restaurant was not 4-star. The set-up was more like a canteen. There was plenty of food, and it was hot, but it was very repetitive, not indicative of local foods and the desserts were frozen, sometimes not having been thawed out properly. The food was OK - not brilliant - I have stayed in 4-star hotels, and the food has been amazing. Not here, unfortunately. We felt the need to eat out numerous times to get a taste of traditional cuisine. At no time were any of our room supplies filled by service staff. We had to purchase tea, coffee and milk from the local supermarket. We even had to purchase alcohol because the choice on site was so poor unless you paid a premium to upgrade to all-inclusive plus (which was extortionate, in my opinion). Service was ok, but one day, they didn't make our beds, they just left folded sheets for us to do. No water fill-ups in the fridge - we had to buy our own water. In conclusion, I have stayed in amazing 4-star hotels, and unfortunately, City Green is not one of them. If they said three stars, they could just about get away with that, but I have stayed in better Premier Inns in the UK. I loved Crete and the location is brilliant, but I wouldn't stay at City Green again.

Been there for 12 nights and we was completely disappointed as this hotel have 4 stars. Rooms are small and have very small bathroom. You can't fit in shower and curtain was always sticking to the body (shower is around 50cm x 70cm) . Rooms wasn't cleaned as they only made beds and sometimes changed towels but sometimes we found our towels on the floor in the corner of the room and no new ones replaced, sometimes when they was replacing towels some of them was missing. They never even bother to replenish coffee, tea, sugar or toilet paper. Never cleaned floor, toilet mirror or shower. Ants was every day in bathroom and sometimes cockroach visited us too. Food was very basic and sometimes struggled to find something to eat.

Our holiday was husband & my selves first time abroad & we absolutely love this hotel! Fantastic location, Jet2 transfer did drop us off on the main strip BUT it’s only 2mins to the hotel which is sign posted & easily found.
Fantastic reception staff, very friendly & any questions were answered efficiently.
The bar personnel, Manos , Paulina & George were excellent! So friendly & perfect service.
The kitchen waitress & waiters very friendly & any questions are answered perfect (I’m a vegetarian & they showed me all the meals were labelled for identification etc) & the chefs prepared an excellent variety off food!
Our room had a good size balcony & the only bit of noise we heard on 2 nights was from the nightclub down on the front when my husband was smoking on the balcony.
A good amount of sun loungers on both pools we never had a problem finding a seat on an evening or lounger during the day during the 7 days we were there.
The entertainment was a DJ (Tuesday) , saxophonist (Thursday) & on Cretan dance night (Friday) it was fantastic to watch as we love learning about traditions & history of places we visit.
As stated at the beginning we loved our whole 7 day experience at City Green & are planning another trip back to the same hotel in 2026 due to the staff & things to do In Hersonissos.

The service in the hotel was excellent. On arrival at 2am on 29th July we were greeted with a cold help yourself buffet and water. Which was very welcome. Some rooms where small, we all had balconies, but I had a pool view room 1118 and 2 balconies, also a slightly larger bathroom than most.2 pools, and lots of loungers.
