Hurghada is one of Egypt’s premier holiday resorts, treating its visitors to golden sands overlooking the tropical waters of the Red Sea.
Blessed with year-round sunshine and sunbathing temperatures, this incredible destination is a huge pull for British tourists.
Despite its origins as a small fishing town, Hurghada has been a tourist hotspot in recent years and has grown as a result. Holidays here are now commonplace and its 40km coastline boasts a huge number of hotels and all-inclusive accommodation.
Most of the hotels and resorts in Hurghada offer tourists their own private guest-only beaches where you can take part in water sports or simply soak up the sun with a good book.
Hurghada is also a scuba diving hotpot, so whether you’re a seasoned pro or you’re looking for a taster session, this is a great place to get up close to some of the varied marine life to be found here.
Like the rest of Egypt, there is plenty of history to see, too. However, the history in Hurghada is a lot more recent than that of Cairo or Luxor. This history is found in El Dahar, the Old Town of Hurghada, where you’ll find narrow streets, a traditional bazaar and a mosque.
With Holiday Gems, you can book cheap holidays to Hurghada simply and without fuss. Browse our excellent range of hotels and resorts and book your escape today.

We’re all about great value, cheap holidays. We offer a range of deals, including at family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in the area. Take a look at what’s on offer.
Relaxation is a big part of Hurghada holidays. Most of the hotels that take up the 40km of coastline have a private beach, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the tranquillity as life’s worries melt away.
Some people may want a lot more adventure on their holidays and they’re in luck, as Hurghada is famous for its water sport scene. Being located next to the Red Sea makes Hurghada an excellent dive spot. The Sha’ab Abu Nuhas and El Quseir reefs are located off the coast of Hurghada and are amazing places for scuba diving advent adventures.
Other water sports are popular here, too. The calm winds of the Red Sea makes windsurfing and kitesurfing very popular, along with the beach holiday classic banana boating.
El Daha, known as the Old Town, is the cultural capital of Hurghada. El Daha is the oldest part of Hurghada and is based on the town’s traditional fishing heritage. There is a traditional Egyptian mosque as well as a bazaar and more modern shops dotted around El Daha.
If you don’t mind leaving the town on your holiday then exploring the sand dunes of the desert is an incredible experience. Whether you choose to explore on camelback or in a 4x4, you will see some amazing sunsets and sunrises on your way to visit the nomadic Bedouin tribes.
Hurghada is a great base for your 2025/2026 holiday, but Egypt is such a vast and history-steeped country that it would be a shame to miss out on some of the more iconic sites. There are day trips available to the world-famous cities of Cairo and Luxor to see the mind blowing Pyramids of Giza or Valley of the Kings that we here at Holiday Gems recommend as much as we possibly can.
