The rooms are furnished in typical Greek style. The rooms are equipped with new towels every day. As our room was not directly at the reception, we hardly noticed any of the parties at night. It would have been better if the staff had given notice or hung something out so that the hotel guests would know. When we had dinner while there was a party, it was always very amusing and nice to watch. The staff is very polite, courteous and friendly. For breakfast there is a small buffet and fruit and meat platters are served extra. The food was delicious and also typical Greek cuisine. Next to them were geese, which, if you asked nicely, you could put the food bucket. The cats that the staff took care of were our personal highlight. Everything is lovingly cared for and designed. This place has a special charm. We would come back every time!

About our holiday story: we have booked a hotel in January 2024 for 4 of us in the family (including a 70 years old elderly lady) and 3 days before our departure we got an email our booking is cancelled. The agent rushed us to accept 2 separated hotels, one of them was this hotel, better than nothing, we agreed, due we checked the reviews and the hotel star rating.
Outside the environment is beautiful, colorful, picturesque but inside the rooms especially the cheaper ones is a nightmare - uncomfortable - dark - dirty - neglected accommodation. I understand there is difference between rooms price and size wise but cleaning and maintaining a room should be only physical work.
I would say, this place should be more famous - popular as a turist attraction /experience, wedding - cooking venue or museum then a 4*hotel.
Who is looking for a Traditional Greek Village style holiday, this place is perfect with the most expensive room but if someone is after a comfortable - modern - 21st century holiday avoid this place. Sorry about it.....

Seriously?? Do people still think that having birds in cages is cool and ok?? This poor bird looks misserable and was being disturbed and literally bullied the entire night by people and specially mean kids shacking the cage and clapping on the mesh. The bird was trying to defend itself and looked so stressed that we had to step in and tell them to go away. Imagine this happening everyday. There is more birds in cages at reception. Do you really think is fine to confine this animals which nature is flying free (and have already being taken away from their own natural environment) to this tiny cages for your own entertainment?? Small minds and selfishness in my opinion. At least!! build them something bigger where they can have more space. Not even talking about our stay at the hotel as that wasn't any better but it's secondary at this point as at least we have our freedom to get out of there....very sad

Hello Fellow Travelers!
This is a summary of my stay in Arolithos Cretan Village. I was looking forward to my stay there. My family is Cretan, and I spend a lot of time in their villages.
At first impression the Hotel grounds are very taken care of and gives you the calm sensation of an old school village.
The pool was clean and very pretty, and the clerk at the office was nice.
However, when we arrived at the room, the entire atmosphere changed. I do understand that the owners want to make the experience feel like old school village living, however village living is NOT dirty living. The carpets on the floor were very stained, dusty and dirty, there was only one working light in the room. The other two lights were broken. We needed to request pillows. There was only one very thin pillow per bed. The shower head wall holder was broken, the shower curtain was falling off and molded and the bottom, additionally there's no ventilation in the bathroom, the bed mattresses were stained and one of the bed frames was broken. The refrigerator has a leak on the floor.
There is no wifi in the rooms if you need to connect.
The balcony was very dirty and full of bees and wasps that will pile up by the A/C water discharge. There were so many insects that it was not possible to sit outside without being stung by bees or big red wasps.
We notified the desk about the lights and pillows. They gave us pillows but didn't fix the lights.
On a more positive note, the restaurant has a nice view and pretty good food. Tables are located under trees, so you have to watch out for falling seeds and leaves reaching your food and drinks.
The museums are pretty with the exception of the Steel Shop that looks abandoned and like it caught on fire years ago.
The Kafenion never opened during our stay, so I can't speak on it.
The location of the hotel is PRIME, which is close to the highway and many other places with restaurants and things to do.
In conclusion the hotel has a great village feeling with nice grounds, however the rooms for the guests seem to be forgotten about.
In my opinion, the hotels focus on making revenue out the tourist trips and big weeding or baptism events, and this is causing them to lose focus in the rooms conditions and / or amenities.

Had a traditional meal at this Cretan village and It was very tasty. The views from this location were spectacular. The rooms were a great representation of how people lived in the village.
