The VidaMar Resort Hotel offers a welcoming atmosphere with appealing ocean views, well-maintained pools, and comfortable accommodations. Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options, including a satisfying breakfast buffet. The spa and wellness facilities contribute positively to the overall experience. While the hotel provides a relaxing environment with attentive staff, there are a few areas that may not fully meet everyone's expectations.

This is definitely not a 4/5* hotel. Food is lukewarm but if you want it hot you can take the risk of reheating it in the microwave provided! Drinks cost more at the pool bar than inside the hotel. Expect to be charged extra to access the Mar Club @€25 per person per day which has a small pool for adults only and 4 poster sunbeds. Charge is deducted from food purchased. Extra charge for gym and €5 for compulsory swim hat. Staff impersonal.
Free pool towels though.
Wouldn't stay again.

My partner and I stayed at VidaMar for 4 days in September and we were shocked that this is what passes as a 5-star resort. I never leave bad reviews but we were so disappointed by the service. We arrived after traveling from Vancouver on delayed flights for over 24 hours and needed to sleep. Our room was on an adult-only floor and there was a screaming child in the next room, through paper thin walls, and we were told to tough it out as the child would only be there for the day for a wedding... later we requested bowls and a wine opener to the room as we had picked up some treats and they wanted to charge us 10 euros... my partner walked down to the dinner buffet to get the bowls at 5 minutes before it opened and they wouldn't get him the bowls until it opened...
The good parts: the rooms were huge and had a Nespresso maker (although getting extra pods was a challenge), patio views were nice, and the breakfast buffet was good/lots of options (didn't get the package that included dinner because of previous negative reviews). The pools were lovely although there was no hot tub, just a warmer pool... We stayed at another 5-star hotel in Spain and the service was exception. I would not go back to VidaMar. If you didn't have a car you'd be stuck at the resort as the closest town is not walkable. We had a car and Lagos, Albugeira and Faro have very different vibes/worth seeing.

I booked a stay at this resort for my birthday while pregnant, as we were passing through Portugal with our 1-year-old. I specifically chose a room listed as "family-friendly" on Expedia, but just days before arrival, we were told we couldn’t stay because the room wasn’t suitable for children. Nowhere on the listing did it mention this restriction.
To make matters worse, they refuse to refund us or accommodate us in any way. The booking process never asked for specific information regarding children, and I feel like we’ve been robbed of nearly $1,500.
This resort claims to be 5-star, but their "hospitality" is non-existent. They've completely ruined our trip before it even began. Jorge from booking was also incredibly unhelpful. Avoid this place if you're traveling with family!

Overall we had great stay but reading other reviews is depend what you looking for in your holidays.
Location is excellent for birdwatching, hiking, running, cycling , beach.
Nothing else around just nature :) so if you like to party is definitely not for you.
Room ( 452 ) nice and large we paid extra for sea view over £ 200pp which was definitely overpriced
Should be advertised as limited.
Food was good both breakfast and dinners downside was that there was not even free water or soft drinks with dinner inc with price.
Also after ordering drinks at the dinner you had to queue to pay I found this bit odd.
Water in the hotel was free ( 2 bottles) but only at the arrival and there was no water fountain this meant we had to buy lots of water in plastic bottles:(
There was little shop in the hotel ( water , sweets)
And small supermarket 10 min walk from the hotel.
Great path leading to other town ( walking approximately 45min, cycling )
