I stayed at this hotel recently and while there were a few highlights, the overall experience didn’t quite live up to the 5-star label or the price point.
The best part of the stay was definitely the location—central and convenient for getting around. The pool area was also a standout: spacious, relaxing, and perfect for sunbathing.
However, the service and overall upkeep of the hotel were disappointing. Breakfast, in particular, was a letdown. It’s not that there weren’t options, but the cooked food was dry and practically inedible. There were no fresh choices (besides eggs), and surprisingly for a 5-star hotel, not even a fresh coffee was available—just basic machine coffee or coffee which was sent around the room so inevitably sitting in the jug for long periods making it undrinkable.
Housekeeping was another major issue. Toiletries weren’t replenished, dirty cups were left behind, towels were taken but not replaced, and requests to change the bedsheets were ignored. It really didn’t feel like any care or attention was put into the daily room cleaning. On top of that, the rooms themselves are showing their age and would really benefit from a refresh.
All in all, while there were enjoyable elements to the stay and the hotel was still lovely, the poor service and lack of basic standards made it feel far from the luxury experience it promised. Not worth the premium price in my opinion.

Thought I would update my review as I've stayed here a few times since my last review many years ago.
This is my go-to place when I come down to Vilamoura. It's central to the main strip of restaurants around the marina and backs onto the beach club. Everywhere is walkable from here, so you won't need your car, which can be parked securely during your stay. The entrance is quite nice, with lots of different entry/exit points to help you get in and out conveniently for a stroll. The pool area is vast with heaps of sun loungers, so you don't have to run to secure your spot, unless you want to be directly in front of the pool. The pool bar is well-stocked but definitely on the pricey side for both food and drinks. I guess it's the price you pay for convenience at such a nice location. The pool restaurant has some great options, but the buffet breakfast is kind of ordinary, to be honest. Expectations were higher for the price you pay. Overall, the rooms are great, clean, and somewhat spacious, although with so much to do, it’s really just a bed to sleep in most of the time.

The hotel staff everywhere were helpful and informative, and the hotel was a great experience. Except as others have said, expensive beach even for hotel residents. The following are not complaints just observations , the pool is inaccessible to people with walking and mobility problems and I'm afraid the constant cacophony of background music became very annoying to people who wanted a quiet corner in the sun to read a book or just chat quietly, something which could easily be turned down today in order for us to enjoy the rest of our stay. Less volume please 🙏 😢

This is a nice hotel. However a number of issues means we will not return. We booked direct with the hotel (to save them the booking engine fees) as we find this often leads to a better room. We booked a seafront facing deluxe room. When booking we asked the highest available room. On arrival we were allocated a room on the 3rd floor. The hotel has 9 floors. We asked for a higher room and were advised this would add an extra 225 € per night on top of the 292 € we were already paying and the room would be exactly the same size which I thought was quite unfair. Extortionate really so we decided to stick with the allocated room. It turns out the room on the 3rd floor was very nice. However we would have very much preferred a much higher room for the views. Pricing was an issue at the hotel. We had just stayed at three other 5 star hotels on a trip through Portugal. You expect to pay a premium but the bar and restaurant prices at the Tivoli are excessive. The biggest issue and the reason we will not return is the breakfast rooms. There are 2 rooms and an outside area. The outside area was a little too cold to sit in April 2025. The main room is incredibly busy and the side room is dull and also noisy and busy. Every table seems to have a line of people walking by. It is far too busy and an altogether stressful and unpleasant experience. It is the worst way to start any day. I would look for another hotel if you visit Vilamoura.
