This resort is beautiful. It was recently renovated and looks incredible. The staff were also lovely and made us feel very welcome.
That said, we had two major issues:
1. Food – Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. We tried the restaurant one evening (the burger tasted oddly spiced, maybe with cinnamon) and ordered room service another night. Both meals felt more like canteen food than resort dining. For a resort of this caliber, we expected much better. We ended up eating off-site for the rest of our stay. Thankfully there are plenty of great restaurants nearby.
2. Heated pool – We chose this resort partly because it advertised a “heated pool,” which we thought would be ideal for late September in Portugal. In reality, the pools were freezing, closer to an ice plunge than anything usable. Hardly anyone was swimming, and when we asked about it, we were directed to the indoor pool, which was also uncomfortably cold.
Overall, the resort has a lot of potential, but some important basics need to be addressed to truly match the beautiful setting.

I had an amazing stay at the Kimpton Algarve. The rooms were quiet, spacious, and very comfortable, with one of the best beds and pillows I’ve ever had. Everything felt clean, calm, and thoughtfully designed.
The grounds are beautiful, with a stairway that leads straight down to the beach. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, but for exploring nearby towns, you’ll definitely want a car. The hotel also has bikes you can borrow, which was a great way to explore the area.
The wellness facilities are outstanding, hands down the best gym I’ve ever seen in a hotel, with indoor and outdoor pools, yoga and Pilates rooms, and a relaxing wellness area. There’s even a rooftop bar with great views, perfect for sunset drinks.
A special thank-you to Elizabeth at the concierge desk, who went above and beyond when I badly scraped my hand, she personally helped clean and bandage it and checked in afterward. She also gave wonderful local recommendations. She made reservations, took care of all the details- she did it all. Every staff member I met was kind, helpful, and professional.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Overall, Kimpton Algarve combines luxury, wellness, and genuine hospitality in the best way. I’d absolutely stay here again. Like soon!

Our stay at the Kimpton Atlântico Algarve was nothing short of spectacular, truly defining what a five-star coastal escape should be. This property expertly blends refined style with the stunning natural beauty of the region, creating an experience we won't soon forget.
Our accommodation offered a panoramic sea view that served as a daily masterpiece. Opening the curtains each morning to the endless blue horizon was an instant dose of tranquility. The design and comfort of the room made it feel like a private coastal sanctuary.
The hotel’s crown jewel is undoubtedly the Zenite Rooftop. This space offers some of the most breathtaking views of the Algarve I have ever witnessed. We spent hours watching the landscape transition from the golden glow of sunrise to the dramatic colours of sunset, cocktail in hand. It’s a perfect setting for both romance and quiet reflection.
For true relaxation, the wellness hub is a must. It is meticulously designed to be a peaceful retreat, offering excellent facilities and a serene atmosphere that perfectly complements a day spent by the ocean.
From the incredible vistas at every turn to the dedicated, friendly service, the Kimpton Atlântico Algarve provides an unparalleled sense of calm and luxury. We look forward to returning.

They’re still working out the kinks but we had a great and relaxing stay here. Rooms were nice, breakfast was not amazing but totally fine, and we thought the general service were more than satisfactory, we had absolutely no issues with any service at the hotel at all. Plenty of towels and pool seating (and the pools are really nice!) as well. The actual building and hotel property are newly renovated and very clean and well done.
You really need a car for the location, although there are a few things within walking distance. Parking was also pretty easy, you can park for free on the street or use their garage for €5 a night.
My only complaints are that the AC in the room was SUPER loud (loud enough that I needed to sleep with earplugs) and I wish they had hotel chairs and umbrellas for the beach. It would have even been nice if they let guests borrow beach chairs and umbrellas and could take them to the beach at the hotel or others on the Algarve. The beach at the hotel is very nice, but very crowded and you have to pay to rent a chair / umbrella.
Overall, this was a great stay and we’ll be back! Especially as they open for longer and find their groove.

This hotel is incredibly beautiful. Very well decorated. The grounds of the hotel are so nice and beautiful too. The rooms are very spacious, clean. The staff are very attentive with a smile at all times. I honestly have no complaints or negatives share. Perhaps, the only “negative” is that during our stay the spa was not fully functional as they are working on it. I want to come back next year with my family.
