I stayed at the hotel with a few friends on a golfing holiday and we were not disappointed. The hotel was very
comfortable with friendly staff. The hotel had two bars, a snooker table, a gym, and an outside pool with plenty of sun loungers. The pool bar was unfortunately closed during my visit (end if season) but the Clubhouse bar was a very enjoyable place to sit and sink a cold beer or two after a round of golf on the excellent championship course.
I'd recommend requesting a room that overlooks the pool and golf course as the other side of the hotel faces the main road, which could be busy and noisy at times.

We visited this tournament golf venue from the distant past, which is showing its age in May of this year.
The hotel facilities are numerous, but we were here for the golf.
The course layout is good but it's lacking care in some areas.
We played its smaller sister course over the road, which again is a bit rough around the edges.
Some of these issues are down to the pure volume of golfers using the courses.

Had a fantastic time playing golf at Penina. Despite the water restrictions, the greens were in excellent condition and my rental clubs were fine. I would book again without reservations. Loved the food, drinks and service. The locals obviously care about this vintage hotel and I highly recommend the junior suite as accommodations.

My visit to this golf course was a huge disappointment. The condition of the course was terrible. The greens were completely trampled with pitch marks everywhere, and there was even horse manure scattered across the fairways. The clubhouse felt like an abandoned hotel and had no atmosphere at all.
The price-performance ratio is completely unjustified here. Charging such a high price for this course is outrageous. There are far better golf courses in the area that are truly worth the money. I definitely won’t be coming back.

We’ve stayed here for few nights. I wish I could say we had the chance. It was nowhere near that. We got here at 5:30 PM and the room was not ready yet!!!! We had to go away for 2 hours and come back. Finally by 7:30 we checked in.
The first night, because we had such a late check in, we were very tired to drive somewhere else so we had dinner at the hotel. We chose to pay it up front and not to put it under the room. This morning, at check out we’ve been told we have to pay for the dinner again. Because we did not have the receipt in handy, we payed AGAIN and left. So people have your receipts ready just in case!
Also, they charged us 5 Euro to open a wine bottle. That costs 5 Euro apparently, nowhere on the world did I see something like that!
And for the electric cars drivers, forget about it. This “5- star” hotel does not have a charger! Unbelievable!
Rooms are clean but outdated. Towels need to be replaced urgently!
Breakfast had options.
And no, we won’t stay here again nor recommend the place to anyone.
