Can't fault Martinhal in any way. Currently halfway through a week holiday with twins and a toddler. The staff are all amazing, the facilities are high quality and plentiful. The restaurants are all great. Beautiful beach. Nice places to explore nearby. The villa is perfect. Tiny toilets for small people everywhere. They've thought of everything.

A great resort in a fantastic location. The Romans called this place "The end of the world", it's a fabulous place.
It's about 3k walking across the beach to get into town, 7k to the out of town superstore. But, but but, there is everything onsite that you need if you don't want to leave the resort

A Hidden Gem for Families in the Algarve
Just returned from Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort, and I can confidently say this is the ultimate for luxury family resorts in Europe. Perched on Portugal's stunning western Algarve coast, this resort masterfully balances sophistication with family-friendly amenities.
Our ocean-view villa was spacious and thoughtfully designed with both style and practicality in mind. High-end finishes throughout, yet completely child-proofed.
The family offers are extensive:
- kids' clubs for different age groups
- themed children's pools
- playgrounds, ziplines & bike tracks
The restaurants are great:
- O Terraco: Fine dining with stunning ocean views and a separate supervised kids' area
- Os Gambozinos: Casual Italian for family dinners
- Beach Club: seafood by the sea
All restaurants offer healthy children's menus and high chairs
The activity offers are endless::
- Direct access to Martinhal Beach
- Water sports incl. surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, etc.
- Tennis courts and soccer field—
- Family spa
- Bike rentals for family excursions
- Seaside trekking paths for kilometers in stunning nature
TIPS:
- Book kids' club sessions in advance during peak season
- Request a room in the Ocean Houses for best views
- Consider half-board option as restaurants in Sagres are limited
- The resort can arrange airport transfers
Martinhal Sagres has created something special: a resort where parents can truly relax while children have the time of their lives.

If you are considering staying at the Martinhal for the first time, please bear two things in mind: It is very windy, not a summer breeze, but a constant gust of wind that keeps things flying around. And the temperature is usually 10 to 15 degrees lower than in other Algarve cities, so you'll probably need a jumper in the early morning or late afternoon, even in July or August. Having said that, the hotel itself is nice, the accommodation is what you would expect, although we had problems with the shower (no pressure and fluctuating temperature), changed rooms but the problem persisted. The staff are great, especially with children, who have plenty to do. In short, the hotel is very good but the location is quite challenging.

Well set up resort with great views. Beach rooms are the best located. Great Padel tennis courts. Exclusively for families - not appropriate for travellers without children (no adults pool). 35 min walk into town, which has some good restaurants. Access to a car would be preferable.
