I had a very disappointing experience with one of the bartenders during my visit.
While the woman in front of us was served four drinks without any issue, when my girlfriend and I each tried to order a couple of drinks (to bring back to our family members), we were abruptly refused.
What made the situation worse was that as soon as the bartender overheard us speaking Romanian, his attitude shifted. He suddenly claimed there was a limit of one drink per person — something that is neither mentioned anywhere at the venue nor on their website. This rule was clearly not applied to the customer ahead of us, which made the selective enforcement feel discriminatory.
We felt unwelcome and unfairly treated, and sadly, this experience put a damper on what was supposed to be a pleasant outing. I hope the management addresses this behavior and ensures all customers are treated equally and with respect, regardless of the language they speak.
Later Edit:
I want to sincerely thank the hotel management for reaching out to me personally after my initial review. It was clear that my feedback wasn’t ignored, and I truly appreciated the effort to make things right.
The manager was professional, kind, and genuinely committed to ensuring that our experience was a positive one. They acknowledged the situation, assured us it was likely an isolated incident, and went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome and looked after.
It's refreshing to see that customer
satisfaction is taken seriously here. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but the way a business responds makes all the difference — and in this case, the response was thoughtful and reassuring. Thank you again for showing that you care :)

The rooms lacked some sort of working table. It really wasn't that difficult to place, given the space. Bathroom doors would not close.
The buffet was okay, but I did not enjoy neither the variety, nor the quality of the food. Out of 7 days I'd say only 2 had a good menus. Otherwise, McDonald's would be better.

So, it was my and my husband's 25th wedding anniversary so we and the family booked this hotel for a very special week away with the hope we could make some great memories when we arrived they charged us more than they were meant to for the €7 a day ok we all didn't say anything so please be aware. Got to our room the most smallest room I have ever stayed in they had a mini fridge in the room with 2 bottles of water when ran out they said they wouldn't replace them they were completely Now this is all-inclusive and doesn't replace the basics like water, loo roll if you run out you get your own never in my days have I stayed in a hotel off any sort to be told you had to replace your loo roll. No change off towels all week. Hotel entertainment was shocking the DJ that was on twice in one week was a man with a speaker 💁♀️ other than that man there wasn't any other entertainment
No bedding change the full week we were there. We had no choice but to go out every day because there were no sunbeds to have, people were putting the towels out at midnight for sunbeds and the hotel never did anything about it. Food pretty poorly all cold
The same thing on the days we did go in so eat out every day/night l would
Never recommend this hotel to anyone
JUST SHOCKING

We booked a week at Silva Beach hotel in Crete for 9 of us for a family holiday to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary. There were 9 of us in total spread across 4 rooms. The first 3 were sold as double rooms — 2 adults per room — and the last was a family room — 2 adults and a 6-year-old.
Overall we were extremely disappointed with the hotel however we were able to spend enough time out of the hotel that it didn’t detract from our break as a whole.
At an average cost of around £1,000 per adult, I could never recommend anyone booking a holiday at Silva Beach hotel.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful All-Inclusive stay at Hotel Silva Beach in Hersonissos, and we’re happy to recommend it to others seeking a relaxing Cretan holiday.
The hotel is designed in the style of a traditional Cretan village, with charming one and two-storey buildings connected by winding paths, steps, and gentle slopes. On arrival, we were welcomed by friendly reception staff and checked in within 15 minutes. A helpful porter escorted us to our room and took care of our luggage.
There are several room types available throughout the complex - some overlooking small garden areas, others near the pools, and a few with sea views (although some were at the edge of the complex overlooking a street but with limited side sea view). We had upgraded to a side sea view but were pleasantly surprised to get a full view of the sea and the lower freshwater pool. Despite being a little distance from reception, we were well-situated between both pools, the main restaurant, and the bars.
Our room was comfortable and well-equipped, with effective air conditioning, a comfortable bed, a small fridge, and a safe (available for a small fee). Storage space was sufficient, and when we requested additional coat hangers, they were delivered promptly. The bathroom was compact but functional, with a reliable shower and facilities.
The two pools each offered something different. The centrally located saltwater pool was usually quieter, while the larger freshwater pool near the beach hosted daily activities like aqua-fit and water polo. Unfortunately, sunbed reservation with towels began early each morning, despite rules against it. Reception staff were often able to help locate free beds, though. Some sunbeds, shades, and decking could use maintenance, but the hotel’s team responded quickly to any issues.
Entertainment was lively but not intrusive. The animation team offered a good mix of daytime activities—darts, table tennis, aqua games—and evening shows including live music, karaoke, a traditional Cretan dance night, and more. They were enthusiastic without being overbearing.
The buffet restaurant exceeded our expectations. It consistently served some of the best food we've had at an all-inclusive resort—flavourful, varied, well-seasoned, and freshly prepared. A grill station provided freshly cooked eggs at breakfast and meats and fish, and on select evenings, an Asian food servery added variety. Two additional à la carte dining options were available at no extra charge: a casual Burger Restaurant within the hotel grounds, and an Italian Restaurant just next door. Both required advance booking and served the same local drinks as the main hotel. The restaurant staff were attentive, welcoming and helpful.
Bar service was generally good. Staff were efficient and courteous, even during busy times when queues formed at the main bar. We rarely waited more than 3–4 minutes.
Guests came from across Europe, creating a friendly, diverse atmosphere. During our stay (just before the peak summer season), there was a good mix of families, couples, and older travellers. We didn’t encounter large groups of teenagers or partygoers, which suited us well.
The hotel’s location was ideal—right by a public beach and only steps away from shops, cafes, and tavernas. A scenic 30-minute walk along the coast takes you to the lively port of Hersonissos, lined with more restaurants and bars. The nearby bus stop (Number 22) offers convenient connections to Heraklion for just €4, and local taxis are reasonably priced.
Overall, Hotel Silva Beach delivered a relaxing and enjoyable holiday with quality food, friendly service, and a picturesque setting. A few areas need some upkeep, but nothing that detracted from our experience. We would definitely consider returning.
