The hotel has an amazing ‘feel good’ factor and excellent customer service. The weather wasn’t perfect on some days during our visit but it didn’t really matter because we had a great time inside the hotel anyway! They have a few restaurants beyond its main restaurant, which offer quite special dining experiences. The location is on a quieter side but not too far from airport and other popular areas.

The most helpful staff, always smiling and wanting to help. We loved it so much we are heading back in just a couple of weeks.

We spent five unforgettable days at Mitsis Royal Mare, and it truly felt like a relaxing escape to paradise. These were some of the most beautiful and memorable days we've ever had on holiday. From the very first moment, we were welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Every detail – from check-in to check-out – was thoughtfully and seamlessly handled.
Our room was spotless, bright, and cozy, with tasteful touches that made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding – fresh, varied, and always beautifully presented. Each day brought new culinary delights that we thoroughly enjoyed. The surroundings were simply stunning – peaceful gardens, a calm and relaxing atmosphere, and the sea just a few steps away.
What truly made our stay special, however, were the people. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. A heartfelt thank you to Mo, Emanuel, Ouglen and Maria from KALYPSO – your warmth, friendliness, and dedication made our vacation truly unforgettable. You are a credit to this hotel.
We also want to give our sincere thanks to Daniela, the front desk manager, whose support and assistance meant so much to us. Your kindness and professionalism made a big difference, and we are truly grateful.
Though we stayed only five days, the memories will stay with us for a long time. Thank you to the entire team – we can’t wait to return!

We came to Mitsis Royal Mare in Crete, following the first half of our Greece trip in Santorini. Sadly, the experience wasn’t near what we were expecting for a 5 star resort.
While the resort does look nice on the outside, the room was surprisingly not as nice as the photos or a 5 star expectation. Our mini bar wasn’t filled before our arrival so there wasn’t even water in the room. The tv wasn’t plugged in, then remote was dead, and the tv isn’t a smart tv so we couldn’t use it anyways. And then there are no electrical outlets with proper ports anywhere in the room - we asked for an adapter at the front desk and were told it would be several hours before housekeeping was willing to bring it to us. Then they didn’t bring anything all day so we had to go back and ask the desk for help again.
The floors in our room were also not well cleaned. We had to wipe our feet off with towels before getting into bed, after showers, because there was dirt and orange residue all over our feet from the floor.
At dinner in the main restaurant shortly after arrival, it took over 20 minutes for any of the servers to come ask us if we’d like water or any other drinks. And then the majority of the restaurants on the resort were closed and not available at all.
The weather wasn’t as warm as we’d hoped, so spending time at the pool or on the beach wasn’t really an option (not the resorts fault of course), but we tried to be optimistic and find other things to do. We were told that the spa was open from one worker our first night, and then the next day another worker at the front desk said the spa wasn’t open…we had been planning to do a spa day, and when there already was little to do on the resort this was extra disappointing. We then thought alright, how about mini golf. We went over to find the mini golf course to see it wasn’t well kept, dirty and a mess. Not at all a 5 star accommodation. So we realized we needed to reroute again…we asked the front desk for ping pong paddles and a ball to utilize the tables outside. We were told there were no balls and to come back in 3-4 hours? That didn’t help our cause. We were pretty bummed and were really left with nothing to do except sit around (not what we flew across the world and paid for a 5 start resort for).
It was quite confusing and frustrating that nearly everything they claim to offer their guests wasn’t available. I understand April is not as busy as mid-summer, but if people are paying money and expecting to enjoy themselves at your resort, you should really offer the items you showcase at all times. And again, just no where near up to par with the label “5 star”.

I am very well enjoying my time here the rooms are lovely, The service at the main restaurant is lovely and the pool bar calypso the service it is wonderful Maria and mark are wonders to talk to and have made our stay even better and the location is beautiful you are right near the sea and the sun rises and sun sets are mind blowing
