We returned yesterday after a week's stay. What a wonderful hotel. Paradise found. We have stayed in quality hotels but this is our favourite and I am a very picky and critical person. The views are amazing overlooking the Atlantic which lulled us to sleep every night. With a beautiful sandy beach that stretches for miles and whitewashed buildings nestling on the rocks and town behind. The room was large and bright and had every amenity that we could want, it was immaculately clean and was serviced every day, clean towels and sheets. Great waterfall shower. The restaurant was very comfortable, modern with quality furnishings. Breakfast was a buffet of excellent quality and the a la carte dinner was delicious, 3 courses with two choices for each course. Exceptional waiter service who paid great attention to detail, placing the correct knives for fish and steak courses. Attentive, friendly lovely service, made us feel very special. Beautiful hotel, quiet and relaxing. We can't wait to go back.A very short walk into town but a bit hilly in places.Albufeira old town is lovely, we found some pretty rambling little streets with quiet bars away from the main square.

Lovely hotel, very clean rooms lovely size, nice large walk in shower and lots of little touches. The only thing was there was no kettle in the room to make drinks, just anespesso machine. We bought a cheap kettle and left it there.
Hotel very close to beach and the shops etc of the old town.

Booked 3 nights here with a friend after spending most of our trip on hostels. You're definitely paying for the views and the pool. Pool is small and not many loungers but we were able to get a spot on the deck every day we went, and it was a hot busy weekend. The views are incredible and the pool is great. Beds were uncomfortable, felt hard as a rock. Breakfast was decent, lots of options. Staff were always friendly. Great location to the beach and the town, there is tons to see and do. Air conditioning was great. Really enjoyed our stay!

This is a good hotel, with some significant limitations.
The pros:
(*) Wonderful location. On top of a cliff with gorgeous views of the beach. Near everything in Albufeira. Really couldn't pick a much better location.
(*) A/C works. It can get hot in Albufeira and the AC worked incredibly well.
(*) Free breakfast. No joke, this was the best hotel breakfast I've ever had in my life. Everything was fresh. Everything was delicious. I've seen dozens of "free hotel breakfasts" and they are normally not that good, but this was great!
(*) Nice pool. It's far from huge, but the pool is nice, with a wonderful view of the beach.
(*) Staff was friendly. Staff was always friendly and helpful.
(*) Good walks nearby. My wife and I greatly enjoyed all the nice walks nearby. Not only the beach, but the nearby neighborhoods are pretty good.
Cons:
(*) Beds were horrible. Very uncomfortable. They have the setup with the 2 beds pushed together and it was awful. Not only were they uncomfortable, but they constantly shift.
(*) Very small. Hotel room and particularly the bathroom were small. Shower was super-tiny; barely can fit a human. That said, water pressure in the shower was good and it has one of those flexible nozzles, so not too bad.
(*) Balcony not really "private". Our room had a balcony with sun beds outside, except it wasn't really private. The fact that pool-goers needed to cross to go to the bathroom is fine; but we had an obnoxious young Brit couple that kept parking in front of our room, blocking our view, and the fat dude kept showing his skinny girlfriend his hard-on right in front of us. We complained to the hotel staff, but they said there was nothing they could do since that area wasn't private. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! Hotel needs to remedy this - yes, people should be able to cross by to go to the bathroom, but people should not be able to park in front of your room and do whatever they want.
(*) A/c thermostat is fake. While it's great the the A/C works, the thermostat on the remote for it is 100% fake. Doesn't matter what temperature you set it to. It only has 2 real settings: on and off. So if you leave it running in the night, eventually it will be 13C / 55F even if you set it to 20C / 68F.
Overall, then, our experience at Rocamar was pretty mixed. It was romantic at times and annoying at others. If hotel got more comfortable beds and remedied the 'private balcony' issue, I'd probably give it 5 stars. For now, it's about 3.5 / 5. I'll be generous and round up to 4 due to the wonderful hotel breakfast. That said, we stayed 3 nights - if you're staying a week, I think the uncomfortable beds would be more of an issue.

Lovely hotel situated on a beautiful promenade with fantastic views of the beach. Short walking distance to the old town in Albufeira. Friendly staff and very clean. Nice basic food on the menu at a very good price. Nice touch having the spa included with the stay but book as walk ins are not accepted. Very small pool area but I prefer the beach so this didn't bother me.
