I recently visited the cocktail bar at the Maria Nova Lounge Hotel in Tavira, and it was a fantastic experience! The bar itself is chic and comfortable, with a stylish ambiance that perfectly complements the hotel's modern vibe. But what truly stood out was the bartender. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about his craft, he made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
Not only did he help us choose the perfect drinks based on our tastes, but he also shared insights about the cocktails, the ingredients, and a few local favorites, adding a personal touch that elevated the whole experience. Having someone so knowledgeable and enthusiastic behind the bar truly made a difference—his warmth and expertise turned our evening into a memorable one.
If you’re in Tavira, I highly recommend stopping by the Maria Nova Lounge Hotel's cocktail bar on the 4th floor. With service like this, the experience easily deserves a 5-star rating!

Just back from a lovely 4 nights at this hotel! We would definitely recommend it! The selection of food at breakfast is great and the pianist is a lovely touch! The only thing missing was fresh fruit juice or smoothie. The juice machine isn't very nice. We stayed B&B and were so grateful for all of the lovely restaurants nearby the hotel for lunch and evening meals. The hotel is in a good location, close to several restaurants within a few minutes walk. Also not far to walk to the castle and see many of the beautiful churches! Lovely swimming pool with plenty of loungers and the food and drink we had at the pool bar was nice. The room was lovely and clean with a great shower. The pillows are not the most comfortable but we slept well. The construction site next to the hotel didn’t affect our stay but for those who like a nice view from their balcony, a pool view could be requested. There was some noise from the construction site but it wasn't too noisy and didn’t disturb our stay or our sleep. Overall we would recommend this hotel for a stay to explore the lovely Tavira!

We have stayed in this hotel a couple of times over the years. It was my favourite in Tavira but this time I felt it was a little tired and jaded.
I have no complaints about the staff who were always polite and helpful.
Breakfast was generally okay with lots of things to choose from. However, normally better hotels have real fruit juices rather than squashes. The water from the juice dispenser had an awful chemical taste. Like many hotels the coffee was barely acceptable.
There room was fine but not exceptional. My wife had problems using the shower over the bath. The large fixed shower screen meant that she had to climb into the bath to operate the shower. She couldn't actually manage to pull the lever out and I had to climb into the bath and pull out the lever. The bath was very slippery.
It was no fault of the hotel but it didn't help that we had a view of a building site with the accompanying noise if we opened any windows.
We had a few drinks and a couple of light snacks in the rooftop bar. The service was variable but the overall experience was very pleasant.
How good the location is depends on your needs. It wouldn't be particularly good for a beach holiday. It's a short walk to Tavira which is a very pleasant town with lots of restaurants and bars. However, the walk is downhill which means returning uphill which would be a struggle the some people. Having said that it's easy to get to by car or taxi.
I would go back to the hotel again.

Lovely hotel in a brilliant location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Roof bar is really lovely, great sunsets and view. Would recommend room at back of hotel as sun sets there so balcony gets evening sun, pool side gets sun in the morning and the building site is a bit noisy in the mornings. Didn’t wake us though. Complimentary bottle and cake for my birthday was a nice touch.

Hotel rooms seem tired and worn. Could really use a freshening up. Limited amenities in the bathrooms. Rooms were dirty with many scuff marks on the walls. No coffee machine or coffee in the room. Only instant coffee and kettle. Mini fridge in the closet kept over heating so we had to keep the closet door open. Safety deposit batteries not checked so staff had to repair same in our first day. The staff at check in were rude and stand offish. The welcome drink was nice but we felt very rushed and unwelcome. We went to the roof bar one night and three times we asked for drink and snack menu from staff. No one ever did return to take our order. After 20 mins waiting we left as there was no service from any of the staff who were too busy on their phones. Hardly any other patrons on the roof bar but the staff couldn’t be bothered to serve us? Main plus for this tired hotel was the pool. Well maintained and good service at pool bar. For the money you spend here we expected much better service and quality and it sadly lacked all of it. Parking underground is limited and will cost 5euros per day but worth it if you can get one. Breakfast buffet was lovely but the coffee (espresso) etc is HORRID! Get better coffee please. Upon check out today not even a thank you or hoped you enjoyed your stay from the two men on the desk. Also a note, that as of Sept 2024 there is a major construction project happening right next door to this hotel & there is a lot is dust from same.Overall poor!
