I'll start my review with the positives. The staff are this hotel's biggest asset. They were all friendly and approachable..... from the helpful reception staff, to the hardworking restaurant staff (shout out to José and Bruno). The hotel was clean and quite nicely decorated in a traditional style and our room was comfortable. We arrived late evening so the restaurant was closed but we were pleasantly surprised to find a packed meal in our room. Now for the minor disappointments. On arrival, we were given an information leaflet which included some rules and regulations and details of additional charges. We were surprised to learn that there was a charge to hire a kettle and 2 cups This is because there was no hospitality tray or tea and coffee making facilities as standard in our room. I'm a tea-lover so paid to hire a kettle ....I've never had to do that in any other hotel. We soon found out that the hotel is a maze and it took a while to find our way around. There was a choice of evening meals, which were nicely cooked and presented well but with the exception of the salmon our first night, we felt that the chef must be working to a tight budget. Now for the location. The hotel is situated on a hill so unless you take a zigzag route into the old town, you are faced with some steep slopes and cobbled paths, which are slippery when wet. Despite these initial issues, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel do Cerro and would like to thank the staff.

We stayed here for 7 nights, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. We got breakfast most mornings, you choose what you want. It is served with pastries every morning. The breakfast is open 8am-10am. The indoor swimming pool is under the breakfast area, but must be requested to open it. It opens 10.30am-5pm. You need to bring a swimming hat, it is €5 per person. It was quite cold. Showers in bedroom were the best showers ever 🚿 The bed is made everyday and we had a large bed so cosy. There is a mini fridge in the press also.
There are alarms in every room so make sure you close the balcony door and turn off lights. Staff is very helpful and rang us taxis. A taxi to old town is around €4, and taxi to Zoomarine is around €12.
It has a bar also opens at 6pm and music only on Sundays from 6pm.
Very happy with our stay and would defo recommend it and it is on our list to stay here again 😁 Thank you Hotel De Cerro stay for an amazing stay!! 😊

My Wife and I spent 10 nights in this lovely hotel. Bedrooms are a little dated, bur more on the traditional taste, TV, air conditioning unit, safe at 2 euros a night. A lovely balcony with a sea view, only down side it was on the top floor, but great view.
Breakfast - Breakfast is served to you, you choose what you want from full English, continental and cereals, also comes with a lovely bread and pastries basket, all fresh. All served in a civilised manner and cuts down on waste. Sometimes a little wait, when it's busy.
Staff - absolutely fantastic, helpful and always happy to help, especially the staff around the pool/ Breakfast area.
Location - Great and only 10 minutes walk. However...... short cut is two very steep hills and a set of long steps at the end then another quite steep hill into the Old Town Square.
The other option is the longer route, but still quite steep and possibly difficult for the elderly and people with mobility issues.
Plenty of supermarkets around the hotel, approximately the strip or New Town is a good 40 minutes walk away, but plenty of bars and cafes on en-route.
We would definitely stay in this hotel again. Good rules that keep it what it is, which I enjoyed.
Unfortunately the British are terrible inkeeping with the rules, they let us down.
The snack bar is reasonably priced with plenty of choice. We both had a great time. Thank you.

Amazing staff, helpful and pleasant.
Location provides great walking distance to the Marina, Old Town and beach.
Roughly 45 minutes from Faro Airport by taxi, roughly €20-35 on Bolt.
