I'll start my review with the positives. The staff are this hotel's biggest asset. They were all friendly and approachable..... from the helpful reception staff, to the hardworking restaurant staff (shout out to José and Bruno). The hotel was clean and quite nicely decorated in a traditional style and our room was comfortable. We arrived late evening so the restaurant was closed but we were pleasantly surprised to find a packed meal in our room. Now for the minor disappointments. On arrival, we were given an information leaflet which included some rules and regulations and details of additional charges. We were surprised to learn that there was a charge to hire a kettle and 2 cups This is because there was no hospitality tray or tea and coffee making facilities as standard in our room. I'm a tea-lover so paid to hire a kettle ....I've never had to do that in any other hotel. We soon found out that the hotel is a maze and it took a while to find our way around. There was a choice of evening meals, which were nicely cooked and presented well but with the exception of the salmon our first night, we felt that the chef must be working to a tight budget. Now for the location. The hotel is situated on a hill so unless you take a zigzag route into the old town, you are faced with some steep slopes and cobbled paths, which are slippery when wet. Despite these initial issues, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel do Cerro and would like to thank the staff.

We stayed here for 7 nights, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. We got breakfast most mornings, you choose what you want. It is served with pastries every morning. The breakfast is open 8am-10am. The indoor swimming pool is under the breakfast area, but must be requested to open it. It opens 10.30am-5pm. You need to bring a swimming hat, it is €5 per person. It was quite cold. Showers in bedroom were the best showers ever 🚿 The bed is made everyday and we had a large bed so cosy. There is a mini fridge in the press also.
There are alarms in every room so make sure you close the balcony door and turn off lights. Staff is very helpful and rang us taxis. A taxi to old town is around €4, and taxi to Zoomarine is around €12.
It has a bar also opens at 6pm and music only on Sundays from 6pm.
Very happy with our stay and would defo recommend it and it is on our list to stay here again 😁 Thank you Hotel De Cerro stay for an amazing stay!! 😊

Staff really helpful and friendly.
Rooms spacious and kept very clean.
Balcony looking out over pool area.
Hotel looks out over sea at one side which is lovely.
Only downside is the walk up the hill from the beach but we coped well!
Definitely would return

Rooms are on the small side, the place is a bit of a maze but that’s not an issue just remember which staircase goes where. We did B&B, breakfast is very limited not a buffet you pick from the same list daily so not ideal got bored after day 2 and ate in the town instead. My opinion, some breakfast staff are rigid to the edge of being rude and would have told them where to go but was not on my own. We had an extra bed put in , chairs moved to facilitate this blocked the balcony door so I put them on the balcony to be greeted by a petty note later that day to say don’t put chairs on the balcony as they could be damaged by the weather…how about don’t block access to a possible fire escape route with chairs????Reception staff are really pleasant and helpful. Handy location for the town and beach. Not on my favourite places to stay again.
