Two Wheels Better
We've been to this hotel a number of times and love the building, rooms and relaxed feeling we get there.
The service in the Piano bar is generally good with a great view towards the setting sun.
However, the dining experience is quite different.
Lunch at the outside canteen (can't call it a restaurant) is manic, untidy and lacks any sense that you are at a 4☆ hotel.
There is a distinct lack of staff clearing setting and clearing tables.
The lack of staff is even worse in the newly refurbished main restaurant.
You won't be greeted and shown to a table.
Arriving half an hour after it opens for dinner, you will struggle to find a clean, set table.
The few staff are often set on slow mode and attracting their attention to get a drink is difficult.
Arrive an hour before they close and they are clearing tables and preparing for breakfast.
Please employ more staff and concentrate on serving your customers.

We spent 11 nights here on an all inclusive basis, returning home 3 days ago.
Our room was comfortable, the food was good and the hotel itself spotlessly clean. During the first week of our holiday , the hotel was very quiet, we literally had a pool to ourselves, but it became busier as time went on, and so noisier and busier in the only restaurant.
The Piano bar, is very pleasant, and although quite chilly, the pools are beautiful.
We chose to eat out in the very small local resort for several evenings for a more relaxed experience.

We booked this hotel based on the 4.5 star review on trip advisor and are currently on day 6 of a 10 night break.
Unfortunately the most recent negative comments about the attitude/sadness of some of the staff, cleanliness and food etc are true.
The worst thing for us is this is the first hotel where we have been made to feel uncomfortable and not welcome eg some staff don't acknowledge you when you enter the restaurant or go to the bar. Having spoken to other people who are returning customers they all have the same view and won't be returning.
The grouting in the pools is covered in black mildew, some of the sunbeds are very dirty and there are lots of broken parasols and bases without parasols.
The refurbished restaurant is lovely but the food is cold I can touch the ceramic dishes with food in and they are barely warm. The hotel advertises 3 themed dinners a week but after 5 nights we haven't had one, which makes the food very repetitive.
When we go for breakfast or dinner the staff aren't proactive in setting tables for that service but are very proactive in setting them for the next service.
The 2 stars rating is for the room which is very nice with a great view to Fuerteventura and the hotel is peaceful.
We don't usually write reviews while on holiday but feel it's best to do it now so we can help others make the best choice for themselves.
We're sure this was previously a lovely hotel but from our conversations with returning guests the staff attitude is to do with changes the management have made and it is being taken out on us the customer!!

Have just gotten back from a "standard" all inclusive stay here. I have been to this hotel 5 times, and each time, I have been "standard" all inclusive. This time, there was a clear separation between standard and prestige all inclusive. They are only little things, but they all add up and made my experience less than 4 star. Below are a few things.
There was clearly less staff available for the standard all inclusive , with tables not being cleared and delays in service with getting drinks. While prestige were being waited on.
It was mentioned about them being 6 but it seemed as though this was because of the extra they offer prestige and having to ensure prestige get the extra service.
One thing I have always noticed is the difference in glasses you get your drinks in, prestige have what I describe as gin glasses, while standard get either the skinniest glasses I have ever seen, or a school tumbler. I did get served a drink in a gin glass, and when I went back to the bar to get another drink, I asked for the same glass and was informed this is for prestige. While this has not been a problem for me and I laugh it off, on my return this time, a separate prestige line at the bar had been introduced, someone non prestige joined the line and was informed this is not for them, While this is a good idea there is not enough staff so there was always a long queue for the standard.
While in the queue, i did observe a young boy of about 12, order a san fransico (non alcoholic cocktail), and the bar tender add a lot of vodka. The mum did approach the bar to let them know.
As i am old enough, I was looking forward to a bottle of sweet white wine with dinner, which I had on previous visits. To be informed, they only do normal white wine for non prestige.
In my opinion, the cost to upgrade to prestige would not be worth it at this hotel, so unfortunately, I will not be returning.

We've just got home from a two week holiday at The Hotel Costa Calero and had a great time! It's a great place for families and couples alike. Despite it being mid summer break, the hotel managed this busy period very well. I would definitely recommend hiring a car and seeing the island, and this is a great base to do it from. We have travelled everywhere in Lanzarote over the last 20 years and this hotel is hard to beat.
A couple of very minor negative points, when checking out it would have been nice to ask if we enjoyed our stay and wish us a safe journey rather than a rather rushed approach, although I understand it is busy there was no queue when we checked out. Secondly, during evening meals, I think it would be better to not be setting up breakfast whilst people are still having their meal and 45 minutes before service ends. Other than that great stuff. We'll be back . Thank you.
