We loved our stay at Casabela! The view from our room was spectacular, easy access to extraordinary beaches, and the pool/grounds were peaceful and tranquil. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we had to leave early before breakfast on our checkout and because of this they packed us some food for the road! The atmosphere of the hotel was just what we hoped for, we didn’t want some large overwhelming resort.

My partner and I recently stayed at Casabela Ferragudo, expecting a four-star stay, but unfortunately, it fell short in several key areas.
Pros:
The location is fantastic, with easy access to the beach and beautiful surroundings. The hotel even has an amazing path leading directly down to the beach, which could be a standout feature.
The restaurant staff were attentive and friendly, providing good service throughout our stay.
The hotel was clean, which is always a positive.
Cons:
The front desk staff were not as welcoming or helpful as we would expect from a four-star hotel, which was disappointing.
The decor is quite dated and in need of a refresh. It doesn’t live up to the four-star standard.
While the bedding was clean, the pillows were of poor quality—definitely not what you’d expect from a hotel of this supposed calibre.
There was no mini-bar, kettle, water, or tea/coffee-making facilities in the room. These are basic amenities we’d expect from a four-star hotel, and their absence was disappointing.
There was no room service available, which is a significant shortfall for a hotel claiming to be four-star.
When the light in our bathroom went out, there was no onsite maintenance available to fix it. Instead, we were offered a torch and told it couldn’t be fixed until the next day. This was far below the standard of service we anticipated.
The hotel operates an outdated key system where guests are expected to hand in their key every time they leave and collect it upon return. We found this practice inconvenient and chose to skip this process entirely, but it’s still an indicator of the hotel’s outdated approach.
The hotel does have a small pool and tennis courts, but we didn’t use them. The pool area lacked atmosphere, which didn’t make it particularly inviting.
Despite having an incredible path leading directly to the beach, the hotel sadly doesn’t take advantage of this with any beachfront bar or food service, which is available at other beachfront establishments along the same beach. This is a missed opportunity that could significantly enhance the guest experience.
It’s a real shame that the owners aren’t utilising the full potential of this hotel. The location is truly amazing, yet the standards inside are sadly lacking and very dated. Despite the good location and friendly restaurant staff, the numerous shortcomings significantly impacted our stay.
The lack of essential amenities, outdated practices, and subpar service do not align with the four-star rating the hotel claims. Overall, I would rate our experience at Casabela Ferragudo at 2 out of 5 stars.
This hotel has potential, but it needs considerable investment and improvements to truly meet a four-star experience.

Our very first time at Casabela Hotel and it was one of the most enjoyable stays we have had for many years.
The team were very polite and helpful, the food was excellent and the facilities were spotless and welcoming. The walk through the grounds was peaceful and full of fruit trees and wildlife, which led us down to the private gated entrance to the beach area. Although we only stayed two nights it felt much longer thanks to the wonderful people that work there.
We will certainly be returning 😀😀

The pros: Nice view from our balcony, the Portuguese authentic style of the hotel, the swimming pool was nicely cleaned, direct access to the beach through the hotel.
The cons: The hotel is advertised as a 4 stars but the service is closer to a 2 stars. No enthusiasm or smile from any of the staff. The breakfast is really repetitive and of a low quality (I would call into question the actual freshness of some of the products). Breakfast stops serving at 10.30am but my partner and myself were publicly humiliated for showing up at 10.10am.
On our last day, I was working from the table on our balcony. A bucket of water was poured from the upper floor and unconviniently felt onto my laptop (which is now non functional) and other belonging. The hotel denied all forms of responsibility. They dragged me to the room upstairs to meet and discuss with the residents rather than trying to solve the problem by themselves. The hotel manager could not be less concerned and the general atmosphere in the hotel seems to be a mere reflection of her attitude and sense of care towards customers. Our impression was that the hotel has become a shadow of what may have been a glorious past.
I would not recommend paying such a high price to receive this treatment.

Good hotel with an awesome view on the bay and a really nice garden area around the pool and along the way to the beach. If you want a quiete and relaxing place without huge hotel around this is the right place to go.
The whole design of the hotel is lovely and much nicer than those huge blocks.
Only thing to mention is that some parts of the room had their best years already. But regarding the price and what you get I am really happy with the choice.
