This was a fabulous getaway for us. Pricing was good and we weren't disappointed by the resort. Lots of different food to eat. The restaurants were nice with lots of options. Make sure you make your reservations 7 days in advance. You can do this before you arrive by emailing them. The beach was immaculate and groomed daily. The service was excellent. Drinks were made quick. The pools were clean. The rooms are huge, with a lot of space and their own decks. The entire layout of the resorts is stunning. The decor of the main entrance is beautiful and their indoor theater offers dinner and a show with individual tables.

We just returned from our trip and we had an amazing time. The resort was beautiful and was well maintained. The staff was very nice and they worked hard to maintain the grounds, pools, etc. We stayed in the Two-storey Ocean View Suite. The room was spacious with amazing views and was very clean. David was our concierge and was extremely nice and helpful. You do have to make reservations for the restaurants for dinner with your concierge. We ended up getting some late reservations because the earlier times were full but the food was delicious and there were a lot of options and the restaurants themselves were beautifully decorated and very clean which made for an amazing dining experience. The beach area was beautiful. Sargassum does wash up from the ocean which is common for this area however, the staff cleaned it up and raked the sand every day. We took walks several times up and down the beach and this resort had one of the best beach areas and one of the most well maintained. The check in process was a bit of a wait but they sat us down and provided us with beverages which was nice and relaxing instead of standing in line to wait. This was more of a relaxing resort then the party resorts we have stayed in the past but we actually really liked that and we still had a lot of fun. The two main pools can get crowded during the day and people do get up really early to save chairs (saw this a lot with large groups) so it can be difficult to find a spot at the pool but I refuse to get up early on vacation just to get a chair so we would take our chance everyday and for the most part we were able to get a couple of chairs by the pool all but one day and ended up sitting on the beach instead. They also have a few smaller pools to sit at that are a lot less crowded and more secluded. We didn't end up using them as we would rather be around people but it is nice to have that option as well. Because the resort is more on the smaller side it had a more intimate feel. I would definitely come back to this resort again!

We had a wonderful experience at the Royal Hideaway Playacar! The food was delicious and the resort was kept clean. Fun nightly shows and activities. The staff was wonderful at helping us with anything we needed, especially our concierge Gabriella in Villa 26. She made booking our dinner reservations easy and helped/recommended excursions for us to take which turned out to be amazing. While the service was exceptional at the restaurants, we wanted to highlight one particular server we had at The Grill- Antonio Lopez. Antonio was our server during the last dinner of our trip and he truly made it a wonderful last night. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed during our meal! Truly an amazing way to end the trip!

Overall, it's great for the price.
The food, however, is okay..not great.. The hibachi I would recommend staying away from... wayyyy too much oil used, and there is absolutely no entertainment. If you've been to a real Hibachi experience, this one will surely disappoint. The chef was so boring, did not engage at all with the table, and the hibachi meal was not good. The sushi was good & fresh. A day later and I could still taste the oil in my mouth from the hibachi, and unfortunately, my stomach was a mess.
Definitely don't come here for the food (mediocre), but the beach is beautiful, clean, and feels very safe. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, and will go out of their way to help you.
The rooms are outdated with black soot ((hoping it's not mold, and although the AC works, we've had issues with our toilet and have had to call for service twice. The bed is comfortable, and the ac works great.
I'm undecided if I would revisit this property due to food ( I'm a foodie), although we've met many couples who love it here and have been to this particular location many times!
Overall, it was a great experience for the price, and you can't beat the beach.
Ps. Make sure you get up early to put your towel at the poolside or beach.

We came here on a Costco package not knowing what to expect. We love it! A different restaurant for dinner every night. Great breakfast al fresco every morning. If you're looking for modern, this is more traditional. All of the staff is super helpful and friendly. Rooms all have a balcony. We will come back.
