Great resort, beautiful large pool, and friendly staff. Lots of chairs and space on beach! Good selection at buffet!! Rooms kept tidy and stocked and air conditioning is great! Clean facilities. Super fun activities during day in main pool areas!! Dinner reservations can be slightly frustrating if you have a large group size as may not be seated together despite your reservations. Overall has been amazing!! Pamela was so sweet and helpful!!

I booked this trip with my fiance and her family. We had a great time, staff were always very friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Our room was always clean and stocked with drinks, bartenders were always on point, food was great, we tried all the restaurants and we loved them all(especially the French). Our only complaint was that there is not enough seating around the pools, you have to get up at 7am to get good seats. Other then that we all had a blast! The entertainment they had was beyond great. There's also a lagoon that's beautiful and only a 10 minute walk away. We will be coming back once every 2 years just off the staff and food alone.

I’m currently finishing a 7 day stay at Blue Bay with my partner and have many different thoughts and impressions to share. I’ll start with the good and then finish with the not so great. I suggest you read until the end.
The pools, beach, and grounds generally speaking at Blue Bay are beautiful. The pools are great and clean, the sand at the beach is clear, there’s plenty of room to spend the day in the sun or in the water, and the nightly shows are diverse and entertaining. The bars are good with friendly service and good drinks. The rooms were clean and the cleaning staff were friendly and passed by frequently.
Unfortunately, that’s just about where the good impression ends for us.
We first arrived (shortly after midnight) and were shown to a room where there was no bed and only 2 massage tables. We reported this mix up and were given another room which did have a bed, however it also had a broken ceiling fan and the lock of the patio door (which opens onto a public walkway) was broken. We reported the broken lock and subsequent security issue on multiple occasions, to multiple staff, and after 4 attempts over multiple days finally got it fixed. Needless to say, the staff and concierge services (who said are “here to help with these things”) were not very helpful, informed, and honestly often rude or dismissive. We later found out that our first 3 requests to have the lock fixed were never even submitted to maintenance. This was the case in most of our interactions with the concierge services and the front desk staff regardless of whether we spoke to them in English or Spanish.
The food was also extremely low quality. Most dishes at the buffet are cold, oily, or unseasoned. The food at the a la cart restaurants were of equally low quality unfortunately, despite some having high price tags associated with them.
There are very little vegetarian options beyond piecing together oily vegetables and miscellaneous carbs. There were no adequate protein substitutes for vegetarians.
We ordered room service once when we first arrived and were delivered a plate of Saran wrapped food that was completely cold and inedible.
I unfortunately suffered food poisoning from one of the dinner buffets.
The gym has no air conditioning and is essentially a green house with glass walls, the tennis courts are torn up, and when asked if they had tennis equipment to be rented or borrowed, the staff did not know.
Overall, I would not recommend staying at the Blue Bay unless you’re really not picky about food or service and you’re just looking for a nice pool or beach to have some drinks at. We will not be returning.

During a recent stay at this resort, which identifies itself as a five-star establishment, we encountered several issues that reflect a decline in both quality and service. Once a highly regarded destination, the resort has gone through a change in ownership, which has noticeably affected staff morale and guest experience. Long-term employees (many of whom have been with the resort for over 12 years) seemed disheartened when asked about their perspectives on the current state of operations.
Beach and Pool Area:
The beach and pool facilities remain attractive; however, the layout leaves much to be desired. Although the resort was only at 60% capacity during our visit, finding a lounge chair required early risers to claim their spots by 6 a.m. Notably, one pool area featured no chairs at all. Increasing the number of loungers could significantly enhance the guest experience, catering to the demands of visitors during peak times.
Room Conditions:
Unfortunately, the condition of our room fell short of expectations:
The bathroom toilet leaked, and we discovered tissues on the floor, which appeared to be masking the leak.
The refrigerator was non-functional.
The sliding glass door was very difficult to close, causing frustration for our group.
Shower water was consistently cold, and the shower head was ineffective.
Bedding revealed stains, possibly burnt, prompting serious concern about cleanliness (photos available for reference).
Despite reaching out to the front desk over three consecutive days for assistance with these issues, our frustrations grew when, after four days of our week-long stay, we were offered a room switch. Although courteous, the staff consistently acknowledged our concerns without implementing resolutions.
On the evening of the fourth day, I approached the front desk again about obtaining a replacement fridge. The staff seemed disinterested and referred me to guest services. When I requested to speak with a manager, I was informed there was none available at that time. However, after explaining our situation at guest services, a gentleman promptly arranged for a replacement fridge within a few hours, and a maintenance team addressed some outstanding concerns.
Additionally, all mirrors in our room were dirty, marred by paint splatter, detracting from the overall presentation.
Dining Experience:
The quality of food was mediocre at best, with many dishes from the buffets being overcooked and soggy. Seafood consistently fell short of expectations, although fresh French fries stood out when available.
It is worth noting that the club area and snack shack close at 1 a.m., and if guests seek food after this time, they are left with limited options—primarily room service at an additional cost. Beverages remain available at the bar, but food options cease entirely after closing.
In conclusion, I would characterize this resort as a three-star destination at best. The disparity between its advertised five-star status and the current guest experience is stark, echoing sentiments shared by fellow patrons during our stay. We will certainly reassess our options in the future to avoid repeating this experience.

Went to the steakhouse tonight and our server Jacobo was amazing. He made us feel like family and was very attentive to our every request. The entertainment team were excellent and Silver was always welcoming and very friendly, greeting us each day. The only negative point is that there are not enough lounge chairs, if you didn’t get a chair by 6:15 am you wouldn’t be able to get one until someone left the pool for the day.
