The property itself is absolutely beautiful, and the staff could not have been more welcoming or friendly. From check-in to daily interactions, everyone made us feel at home and truly taken care of.
That said, we were very disappointed by one major issue: the smell. The moment we arrived, there was a strong odor of dead fish that lingered throughout our stay. Unfortunately, this made spending time on the beach nearly impossible—and getting into the ocean wasn’t an option. For a beach resort, where enjoying the ocean is a huge part of the experience, this was extremely frustrating, especially given the amount of money we spent.
We understand that nature isn’t always predictable, but this issue significantly impacted our overall experience. If this is a recurring seasonal issue, guests should be made aware ahead of time.

Terrible Experience – Not Worth the Money!
We stayed at this hotel from June 16th to June 23rd, and unfortunately, it was the worst travel experience we've ever had.
First, the hotel is located far outside of Cancun, and it took us 3.5 hours to get there due to traffic and multiple stops at other hotels along the way. When we finally arrived, some guests informed us that the beach was closed and swimming in the ocean was not allowed. There were no recreational activities at the hotel either.
I spoke with a staff member who told me that due to the presence of seaweed (sargassum), no hotel in the area allows swimming at this time of year. The smell around the property was extremely unpleasant—similar to sewage—due to the decaying seaweed everywhere.
When we expressed our concerns to the front desk staff during check-in, they rudely told us they could cancel our reservation immediately and we would lose our full payment if we complained, suggesting we could go to another hotel instead. Feeling threatened and left with no option, we decided to stay.
We had booked a Honeymoon Suite with Ocean View and paid an additional $1,300 for it, but they gave us a Garden View room instead. We were too intimidated to protest after the way we were treated at check-in.
The hotel had no entertainment or proper facilities. There were only two swimming pools—one reserved for VIP guests and the other for everyone else. Both were extremely dirty.
The food was old, repetitive, and lacked variety. Many of the dishes were clearly reheated from previous days. Even the salad bar had no freshness or options—it was all stale.
On our last day, I ate fish at the buffet, which caused severe food poisoning. The following day, we had a 12-hour journey back to Toronto, and I suffered from intense diarrhea and vomiting the entire time. I’m still recovering from it.
This hotel was an absolute waste of money. Not only did we not enjoy our trip, but we spent a lot of money and ended up with a serious illness. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The website really needs to work on updating their photos. Came for a wedding, and it was NOTHING like the pictures. The beach was horrible, the smell was horrible, the food was at best sub-par. The buffet was not good at all, we found maybe 3 things on any of the menus that actually tasted good. I would definitely do your research before you stay here, it is nothing like the website shows it to be, we were very disappointed, and paid a pretty penny to be able to stay here for the week.

The service at this Dreams resort is AWESOME compared to most! The beach is not the greatest (rocky) but it does have a lagoon which means less waves and that's great for little kids. This resort is in a gated community which has a public beach, shops, restaurants, ect. You can rent golf carts from the resort or for cheaper a lot of locals rent them too. It's very nice that this FAMILY resort allows kids everywhere including the preferred lounge, pool, and restaurants. This resort is also different from some because it has 2 different sides of the resort. The ocean side is the normal resort and the back (marina) side is all preferred club - pool, pool bar, and restaurant (Oceana). The preferred club lounge is just outside the preferred pool area. This resort is definitely high on our list of resorts we will return to!

Very nice kids friendly resort right off the shore with wonderful pools, restaurants and even a pickleball court. Staff extremely efficient, caring and kind especially Myriam and Jhonathan - concierge who helped us with VIP Services check-in. Quality food, drinks for all inclusive and service was terrific. Be sure to bring extra singles if from US or Canada. Tipping staff is always appreciated for the awesome service!
