May I say that I’ve stayed here many times and have never been disappointed.
The staff in general work very hard and keep standards very high.
Often after breakfast I sit in the foyer and love to people watch but it also gives me an opportunity to watch the staff as well.
In particular I would like to give a mention to the lovely Raphael and Pedro Esteves.. both are exceptional at what they do.
Thank you so much for your service and it is always greatly appreciated.

The hotel was nice. Our room (got a suite because there were 3 of us) was very big. Our 18yo son basically had his own room. The service was great. It was also very clean which is important to me. The staff was very friendly and very responsive. The pool was beautiful and getting a drink while at the pool was easy. There was a good amount of chairs by the pool and we didn’t have issues finding chairs together. If you are going down to the beach you will have to get there on the earlier side as the chairs for rent do get taken up quickly.
Breakfast was included with our stay and the food was good and there was a pretty good selection of options.
We didn’t eat at the hotel as there are many options at “the strip” in town. We had a car so we were able to venture out easily. We felt it was a good value for what we paid and would stay here again.

This hotel was a bit underwhelming. The rooms are dated and musty smelling. Definitely not on par with what you would expect from a "four star" hotel. Rooms look like they are from the 80's, bedding is dated, blankets extremely thin and cheap. While the common areas were updated, this hotel is in serious need of a remodel on their rooms. Rooms also have carpeting throughout, as do common area hallways, which doesn't make sense for a beach resort with the accumulations of water/sand brought in from the beach/pool area.
Amenities for the hotel are lacking. The hotel provides a single water bottle upon your arrival to the room, however, they do not provide any thereafter, nor does the hotel have anywhere to purchase water bottles on premises. Additionally, we did not find there to be any towel exchange on the property. Each time we wanted to exchange our beach/pool towels, we had to track down a housekeeper.
The hotel does offer a great location in close proximity to the beach. The breakfast buffet was good and offers a vast array of options. Happy Hour is an additional perk of the hotel, where you can have drinks at great prices.

Amazing views from ocean facing balconies. The beds are very comfortable. Rooms are clean but a bit dated, especially carpet and bathroom hardware. Included breakfast is outstanding with a huge variety. The pool and surrounding area is terrific. The walk down to the beach is very long and not for the faint of heart. Also, it is too bad PortoBay does not have lounge chairs with umbrellas on the beach. We’d rather pay extra per night for them to be included, but instead need to rent a pair from a vendor for 20EU per day. But the beach and the views are amazing.

We stayed here recently on our honeymoon and was such a wonderful choice! The resort has so many features and amenities and the staff is very accommodating. Loved being able to walk to the pool, beach, town, and restaurants. Beautiful views!
