I've been visiting Cozumel to dive for over 20 years and have stayed at most of the major resorts. Shortly after we arrived (day 1), I contracted the flu. By the second day, I had a fever of 102. My wife asked the front desk if there would be a discount if we cut our trip short by 6 days. They asked her to fill out a form and said they would submit it for a refund. So, we packed up, checked out, and left. After getting home, we found out the management declined any refund. Apparently, they prefer spreading illness to all their other gusts. I've never been so sick in my entire life and wouldn't wish it on any people trying to enjoy their vacations. I can't imagine why they would want to submit their guests to anything like it.
As far as the grounds. They are very pretty with a lot of landscape. However, there are not enough beach chairs. Every morning guests take their towels, and/or some items and stake out the chairs. Even though half of them are not using them. So, if you show up on the beach past 9AM you're not getting a chair. And this was not during peak.
If you're a diver, there's nowhere to wash/dry your gear. At least I didn't see anything. The more expensive rooms have balconies, but they are shaded.
The food was surprisingly good. Breakfast was buffet style, but lunch and dinner were served from a menu. I would have given a 4* if not for the false hope we were given on a refund.

Food is good, premises nice and small, really good decaf coffee, staff friendly and helpful, and great location for scuba diving and bicycling. The only complaint I have is that the rooms are very musty. Go directly to Dive Palancar's location next door for diving and save on hotel dock fees. We had great diving with them. Been twice to this resort and will be back.

Sunscape was both action-packed and energizing in the public areas, while quiet and serene for most people's private rooms. The staff were very kind, the experience guides were excellent and helped us add adventure to our stay, but the food, except desserts, was generally only competent.
My wife and I felt like we needed to leave the resort to have truly excellent dinner experiences.
The rooms are good enough but do not have bathtubs. They were generally places to sleep, not places to be.

This value priced property has an amazing beach, wonderful pool and a very nice staff. It is a smaller resort, you will see the same staff and guests each day. The staff will learn your name and you will know their names. It was really great. Raul, the activities guy was super nice and fun. Breakfast and lunch are mainly buffets with menu ordering for dinner. Food was as expected for a value priced resort but lacked variety after a few days. For the money, it was a great resort. We will be heading back.

I booked this resort for my parents who don't travel very much, as I was staying at a home nearby and could spend some time with them. At check-in, we were greeted by Diego who sat us all down to explain all the amenities and where things were located. He also stated that because my parents had booked the resort directly through the website, they were given an upgraded breakfast the next morning at neighboring resort Secrets. I asked directly if it was going to be a timeshare presentation as I have been through this many times before at resorts. He looked me in the eye and stated "no - we want to promote people booking through Hyatt's website instead of third parties so this is a thank you". I left it at that.
My parents were shown to a horrible room - air conditioning didn't work, the lock on the door didn't work, paint was peeling everywhere. They were told to sit tight and they would be called back about another room. They sat and waited in the hot room for 3 hours, as they were afraid to leave their luggage with the lock not working. They were finally moved to another room that was not much better but at least the locks and A/C worked.
The next morning they went down to their "thank you" breakfast and guess what. It was a time-share pitch - except they don't call it that anymore, now they refer to it as a vacation club. Same damn thing. Over 3 hours they were in their "thank you breakfast". This was their first time out of the country and they are in their 70's - so thank you for wasting their first 2 days of a 5 day vacation. I have never been so angry with a resort. As someone who travels often and am in Cozumel yearly I will be sure no one I know will ever stay at this resort, and am questioning the Hyatt brand of resorts for having this garbage as one of their partners.
