We booked The Bitácora as a last-minute break and, to be honest, only after booking did my wife read some of the reviews, which left us a little concerned.
Those worries disappeared the moment we arrived.
The hotel was spotless from the minute we walked in. Reception staff were lovely, welcoming and very helpful, and our room was immaculately clean. First impressions were excellent.
We stayed for 9 nights on a half-board basis. We visit Tenerife around twice a year and usually eat out several times during our stay — but this year we didn’t eat out once. We enjoyed the food at The Bitácora so much that we dined in every night. The food was fresh, with plenty of choice, and in our opinion there really was something for everyone. After reading some negative comments about the food beforehand, I was genuinely surprised — if you couldn’t find something to eat, there’s something wrong.
Our room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. The shower was excellent.
The pool area was great. We had no trouble getting sunbeds, although I imagine this could be different during peak summer months. We particularly liked the adults-only area with the large pool and spa-style pool — a really nice touch. The pools are heated; they feel a little cool when you first get in, but you soon acclimatise.
We paid to go to UP! twice and it was fantastic — highly recommended. The infinity pool is brilliant, and the drinks and snacks were all high quality.
Entertainment was a bit hit and miss — some very good acts and a few more “interesting” ones — but overall we still had a good time.
Finally, the staff deserve special mention. They work incredibly hard and do a fabulous job. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant and Fun Bar teams were polite, enthusiastic and welcoming. Yes, there were occasional waits at busy times, but that’s to be expected.
In summary, we enjoyed The Bitácora so much that we’ve already booked again for October — this time with the UP package included. We booked directly with the hotel and believe we got a better deal.
Thank you to everyone at The Bitácora for making our much-needed holiday so special.
Roll on October!

I had an amazing time at Hotel Bitácora! The animation team—especially Rachel, Will, and Dogman—were absolutely fantastic. They are so nice, great fun, and really great listeners. The animations and activities were full of energy, and their hype and enthusiasm made every day even better.
All the staff at the hotel are amazing, friendly, and welcoming, which really made my stay even more special. All in all, I’m so happy with the hotel and will definitely be coming back!

Bitacora Las Americas is a fab hotel for both familes and adults looking for a chilled vibe. The hotel caters well for all! All staff are great and as we travelled with our 6 & 8 year old the entertainment team were super, in particular Dogman. Full of energy and lovely with our girls. Definitely will be coming back here

I will start with the things I liked, which is why I am still giving 2 stars. The hotel itself looks nice, it is clean, and the food was really good. Every evening there was a small program for children with songs and dances, which I actually liked. But…
We were on vacation in December with a child almost 3 years old. We chose this hotel because it said it had heated pool water and indoor and outdoor playgrounds for children. In reality, the pool water was very cold — I think the ocean water was warmer — which was very disappointing. As for the playgrounds… the outdoor one was closed for security reasons because it was windy, and the indoor one was just a larger room with a few tables and chairs and a few toys, probably left behind by other guests.
There were two ladies who were probably supposed to do activities with the children, but in reality they were sitting and watching a movie, which completely disappointed me. You go on vacation precisely to disconnect from the virtual world, and they were watching a movie.
I don’t know what to say… for us, with a small child, it was not a very pleasant experience, and I certainly would not come back, nor would I recommend it.

Love this hotel, the only thing we would change is to have the playground open earlier than 10am (our children are early risers). We also find the kids mini disco is not on until 8.30am and our children are heading to bed at that time. Only a small issue.
