We enjoyed our stay here for over a week. Loved the heated swimming pool, very spacious rooms and beautiful view. Yes, the hotel is on the steep hill, but it wasn't a problem for us as we had a car. Our boy enjoyed water slides, mini golf and a heated swimming pool. Food wasn't the best, but we could always find something we like. Overall we loved there 👌

The two main issues for me with this hotel are the poor breakfast and the soaking of external floors in the morning. The cooked breakfast is cold. There is no reason for food to be cold when breakfast has just opened. The sausages and bacon are also poor quality. If the food was hot I could overlook this but cold beans, eggs and sausages are not fun. Secondly, why is it necessary to spray a hose over the floors outside the restaurant every single morning, just before breakfast? If the floor is dirty, clean it properly with soap and mop up the excess water so it isn't a slip hazard. The food at dinner is actually pretty good. It is hot for a start. The only complaint is sometimes the meat is overcooked. Inconsistent. Variety is good but seasoning is also a bit hit and miss. I am impressed by the room cleaning. They've cleaned our room properly every day and replaced towels and bed linen without being asked. At some hotels, housekeeping can be a problem but not here, very good. Unfortunately cleaning in the main restaurant isn't great and neither is the service from most staff.

Nice hotel on top of a very steep hill. Good was very good as was the room cleaning. The beds were old and squeaky, some of the staff were rude and unhelpful (Hassan) in the bar. The spa was closed for refurbishment (I wouldn’t of booked if I had known) generally the hotel needs updating but if you have a young family you will love the entertainment, water park and kids club

We had a great stay at Occidental Jandía Mar. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The hotel is really kid-friendly, with plenty of activities for children. While it's not modern and could use some updates, it was clean and comfortable. Overall, we had a positive experience and would recommend it for a relaxing, family-friendly getaway.

Biggest Issue: Contaminated water into room unable to shower or practice basic hygiene, when raised with the hotel reception was dismissive with "there's nothing we can do" before walking away. Edit - 4 hours later raised the issue for the 3rd time and finally got a competent reception worker who raised a maintenance request and offered the spa showers as a temporary solution. 5* for Gonzalo (may have got his name wrong) - still not fixed but some sign of progress Soaked walkways are a slip hazard, toddler slipped over on multiple occasions fortunately avoiding injury but could have been much worse. 1/3 Of the pools are under maintenance so has been unusable throughout the holiday. The other 2 it's near on impossible to find a sunbed if you don't go down and put towels down before breakfast. For towels be prepared with a credit card or €20 per towel for a deposit, unlike other hotels you have to pay to swap these for fresh ones. Arcade is hit or miss, be prepared for the machines to take money and not work. Out of ~€15 stolen by machines reception refunded only €6. Mini golf is dangerous due to metal plates missing screws, perfectly at ankle height to cause cuts and scrapes. At best this is a pretty 2 star hotel.
