The hotel overall is nice. Huge in space, a nice beach front.
Food is not a pleasant experience there. The specialty cuisine restaurants have nothing to do with the actual food they serve. Food quality is truly poor, but everything else is great.
The staff are truly helpful and welcoming.
They made our stay memorable with sweet compliment amenities sent to our room.
I booked a romantic dinner as we were celebrating our anniversary, and that was the best meal we had during our stay.
They showered us with anniversary cakes, fruit baskets, sweets, and room decorations.
The staff knew us by name and would pamper us every chance they got.

In December people are looking for a nice calm place with plenty of sun. Thats what we got! Friendly staff, definitely a private transfer to avoid crowds.
Overall a nice and clean hotel. Food is fine, what you expect. Rooms are spacious, more like a compound around the pools. Everything close to the beach. Hurgada is a 30 minute drive, will set you back about €10.
If ypu love diving or snorkeling, its the place here.

The rooms were very clean lots of swimming pools to choose from although only one heated pool which was full of children and the other pools were far too cold to go in and not always clean. The food was acceptable and I didn't get any upset tummy which I normally get when visiting Egypt. The hotel staff were not as friendly as a lot of other hotels I have stayed in in Egypt and I wouldn't really say the hotel was 5 star but it was ok. I wasn't very happy when the reception called us at 1.30 am and woke us up due to a drunken prank caller, no apology or anything. We paid for the WIFI but to be honest it was rubbish and kept dropping out so I wouldn't bother again. The beach is accessed via a shuttle bus and there was a huge pipe going into the sea which looked like
a sewage pipe so I wouldn't go in. The holiday was ok but I have had better in Egypt.

My husband booked this trip 10 days before departure, this is our 6th time to Egypt staying at a resort.
We had booked a single queen sized bed and received 2 separate beds on the ground floor. I had a foot injury/difficulty walking. Rather than risk being moved up a floor we stayed in our room. The room was adequate, not big nor small but more on the smaller side of things by a margin. The housekeeper cleaned our floors everyday, which was by far the most impressive thing I've experienced during my stay. Even in my 5 other times in Egypt, the floors were never cleaned. For those who are barefoot indoors, clean floors are a must. Egyptian floors gets real dusty quick.
We had booked a 4* but we got chatting to a guest and they were informed 2 days after they'd booked their trip that the hotel is now a 3*.
We knew they'd be no WiFi in the room and bought data at the airport. There's free WiFi in the reception. The reception both in the room and reception area is random and patchy. We had to leave our mobile phone outside the room in the balcony area (next to a public pathway) in order for my husband to be able to work.
The buffet choice is basic and limited and at least 80% smaller than what we have experienced in the past for the same style of resort. Ice cream is charged at €2 per scoop. The service around the dining tables is very bad, I'd asked for napkins and couple of times and was pointed to where they were (the waiting staff clearing area). There were several times that there were no cutlery/napkins at the table, there isn't an area to select them. Plates and cups tend to pile up on the dining table. The night time staff around the table area seemed to be better.
In my previous visits to other resorts in Egypt, staff are falling over themselves to help. The plus side to staff not caring is that you don't get bothered as it can be overbearing at times. Sadly, this attitude extends to serving staff also. The carvery, pasta section, eggs benedict and tiger prawn (so overcooked you could barely peel the shells off, although a cut to de-vein was apparent, the vein was all smeared along the back making them cruchy in texture) section is quite a awkward exchange. The first night we arrived and had dinner (seafood night) I went to the tiger prawn section. I was given 2 prawns and I'd asked for more, the person gave me 1 prawn each time I asked. I had to keep asking (reliving the Oliver Twist scene). I had thought they were on rations and only allowed to give a certain amount, but I'd experienced the same for sweetcorn at the pasta section. There was no sweetcorn at the salad bar. The man gave me 2 tiny scoops and when I'd asked for the third I'd got a thorough telling off of, whilst he was pointing to the salad area. Same for the egg benedict area. The lumpy congealed yellow blobs on top of the poached egg is the eggs benedict sauce. If you wanted just the poached egg minus the sweet bread (bread for toast is sweet also) and congealed sauces, it would depend on who was serving as to whether you'd get it or not. The first guy pointed dismissively to the prepared eggs benedicts sitting under the heat lamp and refused to give me poached eggs but subsequent servers gave me freshly made poached eggs as they were being pulled out of the saucepan. The yoke could be runny some days or cooked like a hard boiled eggs other days.
The Indian and Italian restaurants were pleasant.
The sun loungers get taken as early as 7.30am.
The alcohol amount in mixer drinks are minimal.
The cats roaming around can be violent, one had attacked/clawed a fellow guest whilst we were all drinking/chatting. As he tried to get up from his chair to get away from the cat, it had its claws in him whilst he was stood upright!
If you'd like a drink by the pools, you have to go to the bar area to order.
All in all, our stay wasn't terrible nor good. We didn't starve and the sun was the main reason we were there.

Had a great week at Stella Makadi, super friendly helpful staff, amazing food all in a great location. The snorkelling from the private board wallk was amazing, we would definitely visit again.
