Staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Rules a strict for not reserving sun beds, if you do then the security will remove your belongings if left unattended, whilst I understand this rule I wonder how it works if you're a single traveler as they look for unattended belongings which obviously there would be if you went to the bar, loo or popped to reception. We popped towels down then decided to just pop to reception quickly to ask a question we were gone for no longer than 10minutes and came back to find security had scooped up our belongings and removed them from the pool side.
Food here is not great, we are all inclusive and have popped into the restaurant each day to check out the offerings, it's very basic and canteen style food and just wasn't for us so we opted to go out for food instead as there are so many reasonably priced places around. In my opinion the canteen here is good for a back up and would suffice but it's nothing special so to speak. It is what it is I guess.
Location is great, a short walk from everything you need lovely beach just 10mins walk lots of bars and restaurants on the way, a supermarket a few minutes walk away too.
Rooms are basic but clean, tidy and spacious. No air con but fan provided. No hair dryer in room but you can hire for a 20euro deposit at reception.

We have just got home from a great holiday together as a couple and a lovely stay at Smy Tahona. I have got to say, the reviews worried me before we arrived and I wasn't sure what to expect but we were blown away with a huge room, newly renovated and absolutely sparkling clean. The room was cleaned almost every single day with new towels and toilet roll provided. There was a lovely view of the sea from our room too. The pool area was perfect and good size pool, always a sunbed spare too. The food was so good, there was always loads of variety and something for all, snacks throughout the day at the pool side and lots on offer to drink. The entertainment could have been a bit better but it was still fun. The staff were always friendly and happy to help. The location is perfect for everything and a very short walk to the shops and beach. There are roadworks going on outside the hotel currently but it didn't effect our stay at all and the hotel is lovely and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this hotel to anyone if they are looking for a reasonably priced but great holiday. Thank you to everyone at the hotel.

Just returned home after 10 days here. I have read the reviews and some of them are, frankly laughable.
This place is absolutely fine. Yes it’s a little dated and a bit simplistic but we were there as a group of 21, 6 different families, with age ranges from 5 to 70, and all of us have had a great time. The pool is excellent, a really good size, and was never overcrowded. The only issue with the pool is the number of sun beds, there aren’t enough of them, pretty much every day of our holiday there were people not able to get beds and were sat on the chairs and tables around the bar, which aren’t at all uncomfortable but it’s not the same as lying on a sun bed.
The rooms are a little dated and can get warm, there are fans provided in every bedroom, which we kept on pretty much all of the time, upgrading to air conditioning would be a huge improvement but it would be a huge cost.
The food was fine, if not spectacular, plenty of choices for everyone, even the fussy eaters. It was all fresh, and hot.
There was a wide range of drinks for everyone.
The staff were always more than helpful, always with a smile on their face and nothing is too much trouble. Whilst we were there, we had 3 wedding anniversary’s as well as a 70th birthday and the staff made sure that the people celebrating were well looked after. Miguel tries his hardest to keep people entertained during the day, with the limited things he has at his disposal. The evening entertainment isn’t the best but I think it sums the hotel up perfectly, if you’re prepared to relax and have a laugh it is absolutely fine, they aren’t going to win Spain’s got talent but in the same breath you aren’t covering your ears as they sound terrible.
All in all, the 21 of us had a great time, and relaxed for a wonderful holiday. The other guests were also friendly and chatty apart from one girl who decided that after a few drinks wanted to fight another girl but was extremely sheepish for the next few days, and was only seen around meal times to get something to eat.
Would recommend this hotel as a budget and family friendly holiday, if someone told me we were going again next year I wouldn’t have an issue at all.
Thank you to the entire hotel team for our holiday, I’m sure you know who we are, as I’m not sure you get many groups of 21 staying together!

we had a lovely time rooms are slightly bare with outdated curtains and stains.
i would love to say thank you to Luis and the over persons who helped washed and returned my girlfriends expensive jumper back.
food is amazing with a good selection of food, as well as food at the pool bar.
pool can get a little busy but if you are up early enough will not matter.

Situated about a 10 minute walk from the main beach, Smy Tahona is in a great location in Caleta. It is local to many shops, restaurants and other amenities in the town. Outside are roadworks but access is still available by foot. Workers did sometimes start early in the morning but this is at no fault of the hotel.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff at the main reception and got coloured wrist bands for our all inclusive stay, and our one key per room that we had.
We had 9 of us staying amongst 3 rooms of all varying quality. The room I stayed in myself had 2 rooms, along with 1 bathroom and a main lounge area. The bedrooms had a basic double bed that was firm but could feel the springs through. There was two plug sockets on the walls, one being used for a fan that barely gave any air on full power, and the other to power the room telephone, which we swiftly unplugged. There was 1 small safe for entire room that was easy to use and was big enough to store any devices and jewellery. The bathroom was large but basic, with 1 small shelf to store any items, and a small bath. The shower head did not reach high enough for taller people, and the shower curtain would not hold the water in the bath. The fan was noisy but did not seem to be very effective, leaving the room very hot and humid for hours after having a shower. The lounge area had a small mini fridge, desk area with kettle on, an uncomfortable sofa and single seat, and a small TV that would only play radio. A basic set of 4 chairs and a table was provided for the outdoor balcony which faced the pool but did not provide any privacy. Smoking was permitted in any outdoors space including the balconies.
The pool was large enough for the number of guests staying at the hotel, and provided varying heights from 40cm for toddlers, to 2m depths. A separate heated 1.7m deep pool next to the main pool was very welcome as the main pool was not heated and kept at a very low temperature. Around the pools were a lot of deck chairs, of varying quality. Some were adjustable, some not, and some much newer than the others. There are notices saying the staff are strict on reserving deck chairs, however, this was not enforced at all and many went the whole day with a few towels and personal possessions, which people rarely used them. If you want to have a group of chairs all together, get there as early as possible.
The hotel is advertised as having two bars, however the inside bar was left unused and not stocked. The pool bar was manned up until 11pm, where it promptly closed for the night. Bar staff were friendly, but got rather busy in evenings with very few available tables. Evening entertainment was varied across the week and ranged from live music, to bingo and karaoke.
Food was provided buffet-style and had a range of options. However, lunch and evening meals were a bit to be desired as did not always have a good selection. There is very little for people with allergies or any dietary requirements. Fish always had bones left in them, and the soups were rather bland. Breakfast was the best meal as always had a selection of English breakfast items that tasted good and always had plenty up until after the advertised breakfast had finished.
On our final day, we checked out by 12 noon, and were able to store our luggage until we left at 4pm. We were still able to take advantage of the pool area, but was turned away rudely when asked if we could still have lunch as we missed lunch on our first day due to later flights.
I would recommend having bed and breakfast and adding the drinks package, as other meals were not worth the additional price. There are plenty of local restaurants to choose from.
