This hotel is great - old Grand Hotel Style, the rooftop is fantastic and a lot of venues, restaurants and pools. Absolutely worth the money. The staff is friendly and supporting - hospitality at its best.

Our stay at this hotel fell a long below our expectations. The hotel is lovely as are the staff, but to close the Swimming Pool for 4 days, prioritising revenue from a product launch by a major tobacco company, over the experience of your guests, falls way short of what I would expect from an establishment such as yours. Clearly profit is more important to you than guest satisfaction. The alternatives offered (Use of VIP rooftop "pool" which is in effect a plunge pool in a area with no shade or use of the Spa) were not fit for purpose and just go to reinforce how little you seem to care about your clients, unless of course they are one of the biggest tobacco companies in the world.
Informing us of this withdrawal of a major facility, less than 7 days out also felt like it was delayed as late as possible to avoid giving guests the opportunity to make other arrangements. I felt sorry for your junior staff, who had to deal with the irate hotel guests - It would appear you don't really care much about them either? We won't stay at the Santa Catalina or any other Barcelo properties again.

We loved our stay in Santa Catalina. The staff is incredibly kind and always willing to help with everything, and they were specially friendly with our toddler and baby! The outdoor pool with salt water is gorgeous, the restaurants are really good (we dinned in 1890 La bodeguita), the breakfast is one of the best we've ever had in a hotel!!
When we visit Las Palmas again, we definitely repeat in Santa Catalina!

A really positive experience! I have called beforehand to ask if the rooftop bar is available for non guests and to my surprise it was. The location looks amazing and the views are nice! The service was friendly and the prices are manageable if you take into account the location, the attention to details, and the friendliness of the staff who went above and beyond with the level of service. They were also able to accommodate my requests.

We stayed two nights prior to a cruise and two nights afterwards. Very disappointed after being told the King of Spain stays there when visiting the island. Nothing on the hot food counter was hot at the breakfast buffet. Asked for a fresh omelette. Two eggs cracked, whipped then cooked on a griddle. Essentially fried eggs. No butter or cream/milk added. All bacon (greasy), beans, fried bread, etc. stone cold. Don't like continental foods like cold cuts or cheeses so food was poor. No England British tea bags available on mist days and when available were provided with hot frothy milk which was nit acceptable. First two days balcony was okay but on return had a balcony next to a nursery/school/sports court which was extremely noisy. Nit very relaxing. Overall, disappointing. Compared to the Shangri-la hotels there is no comparison. It was our 50th wedding anniversary on our trip and, despite informing the hotel before our arrival, and announcing it on arrival, not even a catd of congratulations was received. Very poor compared orher hotels. Overall very disappointed visit and would not recommend this hotel. Mo
