This hotel is far from the 5-star experience it might have offered 20 years ago. While it has its positives, it falls short in several areas. The all-inclusive package was disappointing—advertised snacks turned out to be just a plate of peanuts from the bar. The meals, however, were decent and enjoyable. The staff were a highlight, being very friendly and accommodating throughout my stay.
The gym was a letdown. Almost everything was broken, with only the treadmill and bike in working order. On top of that, it wasn’t clean, which made the experience even worse. On a brighter note, the indoor pool was well-maintained and enjoyable.
One major issue was the bed sheets—they were ripped, and they don’t change them during your stay, which was quite disappointing.

Absolutely amazing hotel :-) , I spent precious 9 days in this hotel . I can start from the beginning:-) on arrival our room had romantic decorations on the bed as it was our very special anniversary:-) celebration. Thank you Mehari :-) . Our room had incredible sea view and in the morning we woke up with ocean and birds sounds :-) . The weather during the April was just perfect not too hot and pleasant to go for walks on the beach . The room was spacious, clean daily and modern with two English channels, French and German channels- something for everyone:-) . The bed was super kind size bed with softest white sheets and great mattress. Moving around hotel was easy with everyone smiling around with staff who can always help . The lifts were working well and I enjoyed with Thalassotherapy SPA in highest standards- with sea swimming in the pool , sea therapy and massages and reflexology. I absolutely highly recommend Thalassotherapy for everyone:-) . The staff who perform in the SPA will analyse your health first and recommend suitable treatment based on personal individual needs . I can not wait to return to this SPA again :-) because of this trip it became my favourite 😻:-) . Regards the food and restaurants we had all inclusive:-) , the food was absolutely wonderfully prepared:-) something for everyone:-) , salads , fish , pancakes, meat , rice dishes , strawberries tasted so good even Kind of England would be impressed with their taste and it was my favourite. I loved incredibly tasty oranges and tiny lemon what tastes like Pamelo :-) . The cakes were incredible with different choices and shapes . There was option to try new dishes with Tunisian dishes . There was option to choose La carte dinner if booked 24 hours before and option / Italian / French or Tunisian . We enjoyed big white restaurant with sea view and gorgeous red wines and rose wines . Whole hotel is lovely spaces and clean . There is bar where you can enjoy peace of cake and drinks we enjoyed mint afternoon tea. I traveled all over the world and I can tell you I will be over the moon to return next year to this beautiful place where I relax with my darling Nicholas.

Given the mixed and wildly differing views on the five-star Mehari, I thought I’d use my background as a journalist to give a balanced account of my week at the hotel.
Firstly, having stayed for seven nights and eaten up to three times per day at the resort, I can confirm the food is sometimes luke warm despite the use of heated trays, water baths and steam in an attempt to preserve the heat. The food itself was always cooked well, contrary to other reports of undercooked meat etc. There is a variety of salads, mains, bread and soups across a range of cuisines including Tunisian, Italian, French and English. The dessert and patisserie counter was always well stocked although some of the pastries appeared to have been frozen, then defrosted and displayed for a second time.
The bar has an excellent offering of drinks with the chance of bar snacks and some unwanted desserts depending on the time of day. Having visited in Ramadan, a quiet period for the hotel, there was just about sufficient space in the restaurant and bar to accommodate guests at the busiest portions of the day. The Mehari has additional restaurants and bar areas which can open in the height of summer when guest numbers naturally increase.
Mehari also boasts a medium-sized pool which was not heated, plus an indoor pool. However, the gym is badly in need of a refurbishment to update the tired equipment.
The theme of renovation continues into the bedrooms where although the spaciousness is a luxury, the decoration is not. In my room, with a sea view and balcony, the carpet was showing signs of wear and tear, while the shelf underneath the TV was hanging off the wall. There were some tiny stains on my bed linen, and both the curtains and two armchairs appeared very old indeed. There were large handprints on the inside of the glass sliding doors and numerous insects trapped between the curtain and windows, which the cleaning staff had ignored. The balcony floor, seats and table were also dusty and needed a good scrub. Thankfully, there were no cockroaches as mentioned in other reviews.
At night time, some corridors were completely dark and doors shut, which when opened could have disturbed guests immediately next to them. Gladly, contrary to other reports, no staff entered my room in the middle of the day or night as they obeyed the ‘do not disturb’ card when used.
The staff were a real highlight of my stay, especially the waiting, bar and reception staff who appreciated what basic Tunisian Arabic I could learn. They could not do enough for us and even checked me in early as my flight arrived at 10:30am. Tipping is not essential but appreciated, either in small amounts per day or in a larger amount at the end of your stay. There is also a friendly security team on 24-hour patrol outside the foyer.
Going against other reviews, the Wi-Fi strength for my stay was superb. I stayed on the third floor and the Wi-Fi service was immaculate. The only place the reception appeared poor was in the restaurant, which was annexed some 25 metres away from the foyer.
Overall, there were very few negatives, although the following are points to consider. The TV stations in the rooms, if that is your go-to on rainy days, are all in Arabic. The billiards table was also out of operation and the cloth in any case appeared at least a decade old.
The fire alarm went off three times in three days early in the morning for a maximum of 10 seconds, which seemed excessive and abnormal if they were only drills.
Sometimes the tour rep on the ground floor can be overbearing and too keen for a sale.
The general feel of the hotel in places is five-star, but mostly it is three-star only. I’d give it a 3.5 out of five as there are areas in urgent need of attention but studded with enough moments of comfort and luxury to nudge it above three stars. For the money, the Mehari is certainly an excellent deal but do embark on the holiday with the mindset of managing your expectations and you will almost definitely have a fabulous time!

Location is good. Rooms are ok ,mattresses not good.
Don't recommend to go off peak times the food variety is very low.i was there 1st week of January 25 and the food variety was low and sometimes the food they served is cold and repeated menu.i wasn't given room with sunshine on request even the hotel was nearly empty.
Service and staff was great 5 star.

Had an amazing experience here. The staff were very nice and friendly looked after us very well especially the waiter staff in the restaurant and in the bar downstairs. We were always greeted with a smile when entering and leaving the restaurant as well as by other staff around the hotel. The entertainment at night time was very enjoyable and the lobby area was very comfortable. The only downside we found about this hotel was that there is no iron in the room and you have to pay for ironing services. Overall really enjoyed our stay at mehari Hammamet.
