DO NOT STAY HERE WITH A DOG
It says pets allowed - more like pets tolerated if you’re willing to lock them in a minimally airconditioned room for your entire stay.
You have to sign a disclosure and ‘pet rules’ which is totally normal. They say your pet is not allowed in any ‘interior spaces’ which again makes sense I understand that. It says and I quote “The pet can only be inside the room and in the common passage areas to access it. It is totally forbidden to enter the rest of the interior spaces such as restaurant, games room, and the rest of the rooms, except for the circulation areas of the hotel complex.”
So you can see my confusion when turns out it ‘interior spaces’ also means ‘exterior spaces’ and we are meant to know that even though there is no reference to the outdoor garden, by the pool, outdoor part of the restaurant, outdoor bar area and the outdoor common passage areas.
Why would you not make it clear on booking and on the pet rules sheet? To trick you into paying for a room?
We got accosted in a hallway with the receptionist arguing with us.
I suggested they need to change the wording on the sheet because it is incorrect to use interior when they also mean all exterior (actually turns out your pet is not ANYWHERE in the supposedly ‘pets allowed hotel’) and they said - no.
They were not friendly or receptive to the suggestion and therefore I have to leave this review to warn other pet owners - DO NOT STAY HERE.

One of the most gorgeous hotels I've ever seen.
We stayed here in December, a family of 4 in a 2 bedroom apartment.
Everything was clean, well presented and truly exquisite.
The gardens and pool area were like a dream.
I still remember the delicious breakfast muffins.
Finding parking can be tricky but not impossible.

Five stars for the amazing pool area. We stayed in a suite for three nights. It was very comfortable and clean. The hotel itself is beautiful, as are the gardens, and that pool is terrific - our children had a great time. The breakfast is good with excellent coffee. I think my only criticism would be of the location. Sadly, Almunecar is a shabby, neglected and very dated resort town with little to recommend it.

Mirrors everywhere giving you a constant reminder that you will need to lose weight. We had a 3 bedroom apartment with self catering. Not suitable for catering, no tea kettle, no toaster. Very limited kitchen ware. Breakfast was included in our stay but I would not pay for it. Pretty worn out hotel in urgent need of a makeover. Pool area was nice, location is ok. Parking outside on the street. We arrived in June. Hotel was empty. I read reviews about amazing gardens, but that’s not true. The area is surrounded by some farmers trees, arranged in rows, not available for the public. Probably a nice view when they bloom but in June just plain trees.
