Unreliable Hotel due to inconsistent service. Came back to the hotel at night after they had completed their daily cleaning/service only to find a dirty bed sheet and dirty bathrobe. Called them to request for changing it and they said they couldn’t do anything about it except to wait for the next day, as they don’t have enough staff. After apologizing and cleaning it properly (the next day), they forgot to clean our room on the day after. ‘Okay’ hotel, but absolutely not a 5 star hotel. Pros: The suite is nice and spacious with a lovely view on the sea. Jamal was kind and helpful.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Upon arrival it was very clear that the hotel was well run, with friendly staff. The room was modern, spacious and very clean. Our air conditioning wasn't working properly upon arrival, but as soon as this was reported it was fixed by the time we had returned to the room! Hotel staff really did act in the best interests of the guests! The bed was super comfy and the room came with everything you could possibly need. Rooms cleaned every day, with very friendly cleaning staff. The only issue I would dispute is around how soundproofed the walls actually are, but that wasn't a massive problem. The pool was perfect and had an incredibly relaxed feel to it. Not too deep but just enough to be able to relax in it. Sun loungers were also very comfortable with lots of umbrellas. We tended to go down at around 10.30 each day and there were lots available. Complimentary snacks which came round once or twice a day were a lovely touch too. Ordering food/snacks around the pool was also very easy, which were also high standard. They can be fairly pricey depending what you order, but the quality of everything I had was great! Never had a bad snack. Pool staff very lovely and relaxed! Shout out to Pablo who was so lovely and absolutely amazing!! We ate at the hotel restaurant one evening too. I had the truffle pasta which was one of, if not the best pasta dish I have tasted. Very impressed. I loved the location of the hotel, there was a main highway but you could never hear it. The area is on the quieter side of the wider area, which I liked as for me this stay was about relaxing. If you want some nightlife, we did venture into Puerto Banus two nights and it cost around €14-€15 for a taxi each way. Food and drinks are fairly expensive there, which is to be expected. Final thing, our check out was at 12 but flight wasn't until 10.20pm. Staff allowed us to use the 'complimentary room' to shower after our final day at the pool, which was a nice touch too! For me this was an all round great experience and a lovely place to spend my time on holiday!

We booked this as my partner's birthday getaway, the room was very modern and spacious, we were immediately impressed. On his birthday morning he got surprised with a complimentary bottle of cava & card, it was very lovely and thoughtful. The building itself is stunning and palm trees surrounding the pool area are relaxing and picturesque. Would highly recommend, can't wait to be back for our anniversary next year😻🏖💖

This location is wonderful. I would not all this a five star hotel because the room seem to be severely updated. Things are falling apart and there’s mould in the bathrooms. My neighbour was blasting music for two nights in a row and the hotel didn’t compensate me for anything for not sleeping despite it being a family hotel. The staff were really wonderful, but again the facilities really need to be updated for it to be a five star hotel. This is not American standard.

The hotel location is excellent. If you have a car, there is always parking available around the hotel. The rooms are clean, and the view from our room towards the pool and the sea was great. The breakfast was decent, although it could have had more variety overall it was good.However, what was very annoying for me was the room cleaning service. During our 5-day stay, they only cleaned the room twice. We were out of the room every day from 9 am, and when we returned at 3 pm, no one had come to clean the room yet, and I had to call someone twice on different days to clean the room. This issue alone was so frustrating for me that I might not return to this hotel again. But otherwise, everything else was good.

The room was really small. A quite good sized bathroom, but the bedroom was really tiny and didn't allow much movement around the bed. The terrace had a big size... but for what. Still it feels like you are sitting next to your neighbour while sitting on the terrace and have to be careful what you say. Careful with the wooden floor on the terrace, things seem to disappear quite easy. Probably it depends on the time of the year, but the service at the bar/restaurant was pretty much zero.

The only good thing I can said about this hotel is a great location. The building is worn out and requires serious repairs. My room was very dirty, with broken furniture, moldy bathroom, dirty refrigerator, stained curtains, unwashed floors, the furniture on the balcony was also all dirty. It was all terrible and I wanted to get away from there as quickly as possible.

The kids’ club staff suggested we leave a review which I am happy to do as they were great - very friendly and always full of enthusiasm and fun. My kids loved it each day - games in the spacious play room or the pool. Really impressed by it. Generally the hotel was very nice, breakfast buffet was good, staff decent and friendly, nice room with a great view, relaxed ambience. Only issue is the hotel is a solid 40min walk to town and you won’t be doing that in 30+ temp so taxis everywhere as there is no public transport at all.

This was such a nice stay after a long trip. The resort is so calm and peaceful despite being busy. We had a lovely check-in. The room was beautiful, we enjoyed the style. The balcony was a nice addition with a beautiful view. There were different pools. One pool was covered, but during summertime, they opened the roof, and this pool is only for adults. Also 2 options for breakfast, one on the first floor and one on the second floor which was also for adults only. Both places served a nice breakfast and beautiful views. All so peaceful and calm. You get a card for towels, which can be used for the pool or beach. You can have a nice long walk on the coast, which you can reach by using the door next to the beach while using your room card to exit and enter.

It was a beautiful stay. We were celebrating our anniversary and the hotel upgraded us to a suite, chocolates and champagne. The staff are all so friendly and nice and helpful. The spa was sooo good - the massages amazing and the outdoor pools really nice . It is quite well maintained, and we loved that there are many different areas around the hotel and grounds where you can sit and relax and enjoy a drink.. only thing is lot of mosquitos(not in the hotel room itself) so wear repellent! We will return!

First, the pros (this will be quick as there were not many): - Hotel staff was very kind, helpful and courteous (Laura and Raquel shine bright in this very dismal atmosphere) - Actual suite was quite spacious and had a beautiful view of the ocean. Now on to the cons: - Roaches!!!! While they seemed to be contained to the lower level of the property (sadly where the main buffet was located), there was definitely an infestation problem. Needless to say, we were very disgusted and unable to eat our meals on property once we became aware. - Very dated and dirty. We selected the property for its more unique look and feel, but were met instead by very old, worn, and stained decor. - Limited access to entertainment/activities. The pool and beach access close at 6 and there weren’t many activities offered/advertised by the resort. Since the property is not in a walkable area, you have to take a taxi to enjoy any of the local fun. - Bland and inauthentic food. Before discovering the roach problem, we did dine at the resort. Like many all-inclusive hotels, Elba offered bland and tasteless food, as well as limited options that reflect the local cuisine. - Smell of sulfur around the pool area. The smell persisted for some time. All of the feedback I’ve shared here was shared directly with the hotel staff. They said they are aware of the insect problem and claim this is a new issue. No other direct responses were provided regarding our other concerns.

I’ve never written any reviews on hotels before this. I’ve always had some good luck probably and all the places I’ve stayed at were decent. But I have to write this for people to avoid our mistake. First when we arrived there was a very loud show right at the lobby, I could hardly hear the receptionist. Okay I thought. It took guys at the reception about fifteen minutes to check us in, including some entering of emails and “movils” for all of us (why couldn’t they have just asked when making a reservation?). Okay I thought, at least there was a bottle of water left for the ones who check in. I walked through a lot of corridors, the building has interesting architecture, but it’s really old. And so are the rooms, drained corpses of mosquitoes on every ceiling. They make beds without blankets — okay I thought, maybe they are somewhere at the wardrobes? Haha, there were two for the three of us. And not a single bottle of welcome water. I tried to call the reception to settle these little questions — but no one responded. I had to go through all the corridors again to have the guy from the reception bring us some water — well, it was a single one-liter bottle for the three of us. During further events I asked him at least twice to bring some more water and had no result — that says a lot about the staff’s attitude to working. Okay, that’s Spain, but nevertheless, that’s not what you would expect of a 5-star hotel. I took a little walk around the area, it was nice but very humid — even more when the hotel’s lawn watering mechanisms turned on. When I returned and decided to take a shower, there was almost no water pressure. I managed to wash myself only to get out from the shower and see a thick brown cockroach staring at me from the wall. Not okay, I thought finally. To sum up, it was not a pleasing experience at all, more about permanent odor of sh*t (literally, not just sewage) at different places and dimly lit corridors with dead cockroaches where you are sometimes unsure of making the next step. Yes, there is a nice view, there is plenty of space, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, it’s really far from 8.4 or whatsoever it has here at booking. Food is ok, but far from good, at the breakfast they even something sweet into scrambled eggs. Thankfully, we had to stay here only for two nights while being mostly out of the hotel. Definitely couldn’t imagine spending my vacation here, 4/10 only for the view and the beach

Second trip within two years. The grounds are magnificent. The nature on the compound has grown substantially and is now really nice. The rooms are super cool fresh design, beds are comfy. The whole area is very quiet, so you get to experience nature all around. The restaurants are good quality and spa is absolute world class. Hotel owns the golf club that is surrounding the compound and this golf course is second to none. It has been recently renovated and is in pristine condition and the most surprising thing is that it is usually not too busy so you can book spontaneously and play fast. The hotel is a few minutes by car from the beaches, and you get to see the sea from afar which is really nice. Even though the hotel is operated by Accor group, it has a boutique feel to it and is truly nicely designed. If the prices stay reasonable, I will come back many times. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday, truly unbeatable for golfers

Love our experience at So Sotogrande. It’s a very family-friendly resort. The kid club staff are very friendly and attentive. Our breakfast service by Mercedes was excellent. The spa facility and staff were great. The tapas was delicious but a bit pricey. Overall, it was a great and relaxing experience.

We stayed for a weekend with our 8 year old daughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. The encounters with all staff members were very professional and courteous. We had the pleasure to be upgraded to an even more wonderful and spacious room/suite, which gave us plenty of space. Our daughter slept very well on the pull-out sofa bed. We had lunch in the all-day-dining with a fantastic view over the golf course- service and food were really good. In the evening we decided to go to Cortijo, after having a drink at the bar where an excellent Flamenco performance took place and we saw people also dining there. Dinner at Cortijo was very special and our waitress Carolina was excellent. The food was something different in a positive way and our tastebuds were very pleased. It was a wonderful evening in a beautiful atmosphere. Thank you very much. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit cloudy and windy that weekend, we only used the pool for a short period. There is also a nice kids section which we thought was a great idea. The indoor pool has particular family timings so we enjoyed that for a couple of hours, which was great. We did not use the gym, but it looked fantastic and was extremely well equipped. We would definitely come back for a time out and look forward already to our next stay. Kind regards from Estepona

We stayed at SO/Sotogrande at the end of a two week trip in Southern Spain and wow, we really did save the best till last! The design of the hotel is beautiful and the room was one of the best we have stayed in. You really could just move in there, so much space and clever storage and beautifully designed bathroom. The atmosphere throughout is so calming and we came away feeling incredibly relaxed. The semi all inclusive package was absolutely excellent and incredible value. We had evening meals at both the Cortijo Santa Maria 1962 and the IXO Bistro and both were fantastic. We definitely recommend ordering some cheese at Cortijo Santa Maria 1962 which is served at your table from a cart after a great explanation of the heritages from the server; a great touch. This place is an absolute must when visiting the Sotogrande area!

We are spending 3 weeks at this hotel for holidays, the service and the room are nice with a lovely sea view. The hotel stuff at the breakfast, reception plus bar are nice and friendly… The only negative point is the bed, I did complain about the mattress many time, that is not comfortable and very old but even after some modification it was not better. When you book a 5 starts hotel is for the comfort and not to have a very uncomfortable mattress. This is the only négatif point of our stay…

Kempinski: A Legacy of High Expectations Our Spanish journey commenced with a desire for comfort and luxury, and the renowned Kempinski promised just that. As anticipated, the service and staff met the highest standards. The signature "Lady in Red" welcome added a passionate touch to our arrival, setting a positive tone for our stay. The rooms, while spacious, carried a dated, old-fashioned charm. Despite this, they were well-maintained and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The balcony offered a pleasant retreat. Breakfast, though good, did not quite reach the pinnacle of Kempinski excellence. The variety and quality were satisfactory, but nothing extraordinary. The hotel's gardens and pools were exceptional, situated right on the seashore. There was ample space to enjoy privacy and the sunbeds were delightfully comfortable. However, the hotel restaurant did not live up to the five-star reputation. Service was slow, the food was merely adequate, and the prices were steep. Would we return? Yes, but with the expectation that Kempinski upholds its legacy of luxury and refinement in every aspect.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Kempinski in Marbella, and unfortunately, it was far from the luxurious experience I expected. Here are some key points from my stay: **Service:** The overall service was disappointing, particularly at breakfast, by the pool, and on the beach. The staff seemed to prioritize other guests, especially foreigners, while I was consistently met with slower, less attentive service. It felt as though the quality of service depended on the discretion of individual employees rather than being a standard for all guests. **Extra Charges:** I was charged an unnecessary additional fee for a room occupied by a mother and two children, which I found unreasonable. Despite raising this concern, the hotel did not offer any satisfactory explanation or resolution, making me feel exploited. **Food:** The food quality was average at best, especially considering the high prices. The breakfast selection was limited, and service was inconsistent. There were long waits for certain items, and requests were often ignored or fulfilled with noticeable delays. **Room Service:** The room service left much to be desired. Basic amenities, such as daily water, were not provided regularly, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. The cleaning service was also subpar, with some days where the room was barely tidied. **Pool and Beach Service:** The service at the pool and beach was equally disappointing. Staff were slow to attend to requests, and it often felt like they were doing the bare minimum. There was a clear lack of attention to detail, which greatly affected the overall experience. **Spa:** While the spa offered a range of treatments, the prices were exorbitantly high. Given the overall lack of quality service in other areas of the hotel, I did not feel that the spa provided good value for money. **Conclusion:** My stay at Hotel Kempinski in Marbella was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a luxury hotel. The service was poor, the extra charges were unjustified, and the overall experience left me feeling disrespected and underappreciated. I would not recommend this hotel, especially given the high prices and low value offered.

The other day the pool at our apartment was shut so my father in law and I went to seee about booking beds at the hotel, no problem and they happily took nearly 400 euros for 4 adults and 2 kids (4 beds only). When we arrived the next day we were shown to an area roped off where we were told we can’t go the other side of the rope accept to access the pool (never said anything about restrictions on hen taking our money). My wife and I have stayed in some beautiful hotels in Europe and America and whilst I can’t comment on the rooms here, the pool area was an absolute disgrace and if I was staying here I would be mortified by the state of the pool (as you will see from images). The service was poor as on more than one occasion we had to ask for drinks, the one compliment I will say is we ate lunch in the restaurant and the food was nice (this is the only reason I gave it 2 stars rather than 1)! I did raise concerns at the end of the day about the standard and felt it was an extortionate price with the lady on the reception of the restaurant (who the day before took out money) and simply got a shrug of the shoulders. Nearly a 750 euro day with the food and drink was complete daylight robbery.

Very disappointed at the service of this 5 star hotel in Marbella. Although the scenery was quite beautiful here, the service was definitely lacking. We were 'welcomed' by a french lady who was quite rude, she seemed to be questioning my partner as he had a trivial mix up with the name on the booking, she then retorted, "oh, you don't know your own name?" We had asked about the availability of a sea view room, again she was quite rude in her response about how one was not booked. That is fair enough, but since we were considering an upgrade, this was a curt response in a 5 star hotel. Upon check-out, I had noticed that I left a pair of Dior sunglasses. I rang the hotel twice on the same day of check-out and once the next day. Despite being told I will get a callback, I never did. I also left a converter in the room, which is minor but since I am still in Marbella, I could have gone to pick it up. But I never heard back from them. We stayed for 4 nights and used the bar, pool bar and beach club. The service in the beach club was not great, quite slow, they got our order mixed up and we had a swarm of wasps and hornets and the waiters seemed to ignore us until the situation was so bad that we asked to move inside. The one time we went down to breakfast, I was pushed and barged past by two other guests, understandably the hotel cannot control this but overall was not a great experience. The television options were quite poor as there were no english channels, and no casting option which was a little surprising. Also, it would have been nice if there was more of beach part to the hotel rather than just a pool area. Upon check-out, we purchased 3 of the vintage watches they have on display in the foyer. The service was ok when purchasing, but very disappointed that they do not seem to have the decency to respond when it comes to a couple of lost belongings.

One of the most beautiful and luxurious hotels we have ever stayed in, like walking into a dream! Special thanks to the lovely Carlotta from guest services who even provided us chocolate covered strawberries in the room. We could not find fault with any aspect of our stay as the staff went above and beyond to make sure guests were comfortable, even preparing a special tomato salad on the bar terrace area for my mum and moving heaters to keep us warm. Food at the sushi restaurant and fine dining restaurant was also extremely good (although here was our only small issue as both restaurants initially gave us tables in a separate smaller room or a table in the entryway to the restaurant, saying there was no other space; when we offered to eat quickly they would change our table to a better one which we then got to keep for the night, but I think they generally keep the good tables for more frequent guests. They also charged us twice for a main course at the fine dining restaurant but I think this was an honest mistake). The breakfast was also extremely nice and beach area was fine, although note that they don't have the beach club open every day of the week. Overall a dream of a stay and we cannot wait to return!

We spend a long weekend at villa padierna and it was absolutely amazing. The location is beautiful as it feels like you are in a Tuscany palace, the room was big, clean and comfortable, the food amazing and what made our stay unforgettable was the staff. From breakfast, to dinner, from reception to housekeeping. All had a big part in making it a special experience. Special shout out to Borja, Lorena, Morales and Santiago the espetero. You made sure we had the best possible time. Highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.

Every person was kind and sincerely wanted to help. The sushi restaurant had great views of the sea, with first class sushi. Steak house was spacious with great selection. Awesome filets. Overall this was an incredible experience and each member of our family was very very happy. Top tier service, location, and food. We can't wait to come back.

Outstanding location, superb facilities and friendly staff. I highly recommend to stay on red level. The pool area is fantastic specially the area near the bar and glass rails. We enjoyed the food in all restaurants and they didn’t disappoint. We tried the beach area one day and we loved it but did miss the very attentive staff of the pool area. Easy walk to town.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Gran Melia Don Pepe. We have been staying at the hotel for many years and cannot recommend it enough. We always receive excellent service from Abel and all of his team, they are all so friendly and helpful and go above and beyond. The hotel rooms are immaculately clean and beds are very comfortable. The hotel offers excellent amenities and the kids club was an absolute winner with my two children who are 11 and 8 years old. A superb hotel in a great location and the staff are just brilliant. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special, the check in was seamless, a nice cold glass of Cava whilst we were allocated the room, it was so nice. We had a really nice room , so spacious and everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely, Isobel made us so welcome and looked after my wife and I , she was really friendly and nothing was too much. The same can be said for all the team, nothing was too much and they always had a smile on their faces. The landscape gardens are something else, this is well established hotel and the whole place is spotless, the trees well manicured, the pool areas always clean and tidy, it was perfect..

Top quality 5star all inclusive. Set out on a reasonable size resort, not too far waking from end to end with little ones. Beach is a dark sand so too hot for little ones. Pools are good with just the right amount of sun loungers. It's just a big shame there is no creative water slides or jets or fountains for the 2 - 16yr olds. The toddler splash slide and jets are very sad and small compared to everything else. No pools go deeper than 130cm either. Staff are super friendly. Plenty of bikes to use. Shop for inflatables and kids toys is well stocked. The show is pretty good, just maybe a little short. Food was very high quality, but oddly the dishes varied enormously in size / ability to fill and sustain you. Watch out for sewage smell from time to time, but don't think that is the fault of Ikos.

Very high quality service throughout a week's stay, including the transfers. The staff is evidently very well trained. The food is the strongest selling point - more on that below. For now, I'd say make sure you get your reservations in early, otherwise you'll be offered very early or very late slots. There are lots of pools - both heated and unheated. The space around the adult pool (unheated) was very pleasant; the other pools were more variable (depending on who was there and how loud they were being). The poolside service was very attentive. The spa was a bit underwhelming and has no jacuzzi. It seems to be designed for people waiting for treatments. The gym was compact but well-equipped. It's a shame the air-conditioning was broken for most of the week, as it made it unpleasantly stuffy. The bike rental was a good option, but the bikes we rented weren't in great condition - weak brakes on one bike and the other was very squeaky. The Tesla rental was great - it's worth booking this a few days in advance. The reception bar is a hidden gem, and a very comfortable space to spend time in the afternoon, when it gets too hot outside.

An amazing stay here, the hotel is exceptional, really stunning, service is wonderful and feels like there is an extremely positive culture amongst staff. We didn’t have a bad meal, all the restaurants service and quality is fantastic. Dropped a star on location as the beach is poor at best. For the hour we went there, JCB diggers were going past, there is litter and just a run down feel, definitely don’t come here for the beach, however the pools are all brilliant and there’s no idiots creeping down at 7am putting towels on loungers, plenty of space everywhere. Loved it, perfect family getaway will now visit the other Ikos resorts.

Maha Alola

This was the worst customer experience I’ve ever had at any hotel or resort claiming to be "5-star." 1. We ate a burger at Cheat and found a hair in it. 2. The AC in our room was unbearably hot and leaked water, creating a dangerous situation where we could've slipped. 3. They force you to book and prepay around 250 euros for restaurants in the plaza, which is a complete rip-off. 4. The noise level was outrageous, and housekeeping even entered our room while we were sleeping, completely ignoring the "Do Not Disturb" sign. 5. The rooms were filthy, with outdated decor that made the place feel rundown. 6. When we checked out, they overcharged us for airport transportation. Most frustrating of all, when I brought these issues to the hotel manager’s attention, he just sat there and said, "What do you expect? This resort is an old building," completely ignoring the rest of my complaints. Overall, if you expect 5-star service here, you will be severely disappointed.

Possibly the worst service you will experience in a luxury resort. The surroundings are fantastic Interiors of the rooms are nice but dated, however really stands out with this hotel is the lack of service. You can walk past 15 members of staff in the sea grill restaurant, hoping one of them cares enough to give you any eye contact - for you to ask them a question.. Sadly, they won’t and you’ll be standing there like a melon until one of them decides that you are honoured enough to receive any type of service. You can also use to book restaurants and other amenities with WhatsApp - What they don’t tell anyone is that the average time for a reply is four hours. In one case for my wife 6.5 hours If you’re used to staying in luxury resorts around the world, who hold service in high regard you will definitely need to lower your expectations dramatically before checking into the Puente Romano

Really nice hotel, ideal location as it is very close to the main areas we wanted to visit, the hotel itself was clean and fairly high standard. Not a 5 star but would certainly say it is good. Breakfast is lovely, it feels nice and fresh and the lady at the egg counter in the morning is lovely, she makes an effort with all the people staying at the hotel and even made an effort to say bye on our last day.

The hotel as a resort is beautiful and has a lot of nice restaurants but be very very very careful with what you bring and leave in the hotel room whether it’s luxury bags or shoes or anything you can’t fit in the safe . In the ten days we were there , three robberies occurred where a lady breaks into the room while the guest are not in , takes specific brand items and leaves . Even though the manager said it was the first time we found out from two other couples that they were robbed within the same week. The hotel management did not take responsibility for any theft that occurred on their property even though the director told our friend they would reimburse her. If I were you I would stay in a more secure hotel .

The entrance to the hotel in the evenings is extremely busy , but the location can’t be better. The hotel is blocks of 3-4 story buildings . It has a beautiful garden . The car park can be a problem . The hotel reception was not as fancy as expected but the customer service is excellent . The rooms refurbished and has a welcoming atmosphere. I got a garden view and a very quiet room . The only downside is that there were mosquitos in the room .
