My (brand-new!) wife and I came here for our honeymoon. While everything here truly is perfect, the caveat is that this only applies to what is open. The rooms (suites, especially), pool and facilities are marvelous and high-end in every way. The location is stunning. The food is amazing, too. However, the multitude of restaurants and even the changing rooms and first-floor bathrooms were not open due to some conflict with the local government. This review would be five stars if these facilities had been open, and I’m sure they will reopen soon. My wife and I will be returning!

Had a suite - decent size… bathroom a little dated. Breakfast was excellent. The pool side service towards the end of the day was not great. The underground car park was closed - we were there off peak - so parking was not an issue but there was limited spaces nearby. Great location on waterfront.

Great location with a lovely small private beach area. The room was tired and old. The bathroom light switch didn't work well, the shower head didn't stay in place, one of the taps was loose. There was no 'service with a smile' and although any request was actioned, I always had to be requested (for instance although there was pool service for cocktails, good luck getting someone walk past and ask if you wanted another drink or take your finished glass away). We'd asked for a menu for lunch and when drinks were delivered the waiter wasn't interested in taking a food order.
Unfortunately we also went in school holidays (poor planning on our part!) But kids took over the pool as kids do, but they were loud for extended periods and it was just not I'm fitting for what I expected a 5* hotel to be.
Our last day, when it felt like less of a family clientel did seem better, with lovely breakfast by the pool, but again, unfortunately, marred again by the poor service of the wait staff.

I recently spent a week in a suite at Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus and left with a deep appreciation for both its stunning location and the exceptional service provided by the staff. The hotel is perfectly situated right on the beachfront, just a pleasant stroll from the boutiques and marina of Puerto Banús, making it an ideal base for exploring Marbella’s vibrant surroundings.
The suite itself was spacious and comfortable, with elegant furnishings and a private terrace offering beautiful views of the Mediterranean and the pool area.
The amenities, from the plush bedding to the well-equipped kitchenette and luxurious bathroom, made for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Room service was prompt and attentive, consistently meeting expectations throughout the week.
What truly stood out was the staff’s accommodating and helpful attitude. From the front desk to housekeeping and room service, everyone went out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience. Their warmth and professionalism made a real difference and contributed greatly to the overall enjoyment of the stay.
However, it’s worth noting that during my visit in April, parts of the hotel were partially closed, including some restaurants and facilities. this did have a noticeable impact on the variety and quality of services, particularly at breakfast. I would encourage management to consider how such closures might affect guest experience, especially during peak travel periods.
Despite this, I was very pleased with the care and attention from the staff, and I left feeling well looked after. Thank you to everyone at Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus for a memorable

We came to this hotel in 2019 and the rooms were stunning / large and spacious and very clean.
This is our 2nd time back in June 2025 and the hotel appears to have gone downhill. All the resturants and shops underneath the hotel are closed for renovation (we was told when we booked, this would all have been completed by then) and the room although having a stunning sea view provides a maximum of 3* quality. I did abit of research on this and its due to a current injunction on the hotel.
On arrival our beds were seperate so we requested later on in the day could we have these put together. The staff knocked once and then proceeded to walk in 2 seconds after. At the time my Wife was getting undressed and when we shouted to come back he still proceeded to walk further into the room. Hotel staff also shouting outside the bedroom door at 9am so if you want a relaxed lay in this is near impossible.
The bed is old and dated, bathroom is small and shower tray scuffed and unclean. The ceiling has a crack where the vent is and masking tape over another part. Room is very small with wardrobe space and hangers limited. Safe does not work. Floor was sandy and dirty on arrival. I would give this hotel a 3* overall maximum. The pool facilities is a free for all. As the resturant has been moved to poolside during renovations there are a limited amount of beds so unless you get up at the crack of dawn you stand little chance. Defiantly not 5*.
Hotel staff are lovely but it is not a 5*. We will not be returning again.
It's a shame to see the hotel have gone this way, with a bit of investment and TLC it could probably get back to the standard it once was.
