Let me first start with: We had a really lovely vacation. It wasn‘t the one we pictured though, but let‘s start with the positive things:
The service staff (bars, restaurant) is amazing. So lovely, so kid-friendly and truly one of the best team I‘ve ever seen in a hotel. Our toddler was also obsessed with the staff — not only Olivia from the kids club, but also everyone else, especially Angelos from the bar and Katharina & Tzeni from the restaurant. The food is good — not all is outstanding and it gets a little repetitive sometimes, but you‘ll always find something you enjoy. The pools are a little chilly, but very clean and big — our toddler also loved the kids pool. The hotel itself is also clean, which for us is really important.
The negatives — it‘s old. This hotel needs some serious love, it‘s not a 5* hotel in my eyes. The rooms need upgrades, and the sunbeds/umbrellas too. The kids club is great, but it could need some more budget to get some new paint on the tables etc., it just needs love.
The biggest issue though: the management staff. They are incredibly unhelpful. We had an issue with a broken AC when it was 35 degrees outside and they kept telling us it‘ll be fixed, but after almost two days, still nothing. They didn‘t even offer us a bottle of cold water or a fan. „We could give you a fan if we have some, I‘d need to check“. Sure. We basically bullied them into giving us another room and we had to move twice during our stay, but no AC with a small child is not an option. I hope they‘ll improve because it could be a really amazing hotel, especially with this service staff.

This is the kind of hotel where you are negatively surprised from time to time.
Starting with positives: hotel looks good - clean and modern. Pools are nice with great water temperature. Staff in the restaurants (most of them) is kind and friendly.
Negative surprises:
Water - even with all inclusive option (the only option as I know in this hotel) be ready to buy water for yourself or to wait in quite long queues to refill your bottle.
Bars (all of them except the one at the beach) - again be ready to wait even 20 minutes in queues almost all the time.
Food - if you are allergic on something- not all products are properly marked - you need to ask staff which (some of them) doesn’t speak English.
Freshly squeezed juice - at the breakfast you have to pay for this - for me it was surprise - usually it’s included into the all inclusive package.
Air conditioning - maybe we had bad luck but in our room air conditioning was broken for 3 out of 7 days. Unfortunately every day we were informed that it will be fixed soon - and it was fixed but only for some time.
Cosmetics - do not expect anything more than shower gel and soap.

The hotel Sentido Asterias Beach Hotel in Afandou (Rhodos) has a good selection of food at the buffet. Overall, the food and drinks in this hotel have been great.
The pools and the private beach are also good. Big pools and (in September 24) plenty of loungers. Two bars at the beach and at the main pool provide plenty of drinks and even snacks. Our personal recommendation is the pita (also available in vegetarian). For dinner in the restaurant, we were greated by the hotel‘s ambassedor Günther each evening, a good-hearted man that remembered all guests after the first visit and continously made sure our stay is pleasent.
So much for the positives.
Unfortunately, there is plenty of negatives that make a stay in this hotel exhausting.
The animators (3 people) are not only lacking the typical enthusiasm and efforts for inclusion, the animator on the volleyball field is plain rude. Not only giving sarcastic comments to our friend that has been new to the sport, but also complaining about everything about other peoples game while at the same time not putting any efforts to the game.
The rooms appear old but fine on the first look (aka immediatly after cleaning for new customers).
Everything after that is simply a pain. The entire hotel is flooded with a pest of ants, which also inhabit the rooms in vast amounts. We had to ask the reception for extra ants-cleaning every 1-2 days. Our friends had the same problems in their rooms.
Having ants in your luggage and even toiletry bag, hair and bed, made being in the hotel room miserable. The owners were prepared for the complaints and obviously didn‘t care much for changing anything to the rooms to tackle the problem as the room was quickly rented out to the next guests after us.
While the pools were nice, lounges at the pool were very old and uncomfortable. Again, we got the impression that the owners wouldn‘t put any investments into the maintenance of the hotel.
The service was mostly OK. The main point for us were receptionists that would completely play down the pest of ants in their rooms and let you wait several hours for your room upon arrival (time where the room was already booked for you), only to than forget about you.
Overall, we highly advise against this hotel. It is out of our imaginations how this hotel can still have 5 stars. There‘s a good chance it was worthy of that 20 years ago, but not anymore. You pay the premium price and get these lousy rooms. We will not come back in this hostel for the ants.

We stayed here a week and we’re so pleased with the hotel interior, beautiful garden, clean rooms with comfortable facilities. The hotel provides a high quality service, and especially has the most friendly and carrying staff who did their best.

After visiting the massage today in a hotel, I was shocked by their "professionalism" and the quality of the service provided. I signed up for a Balinese massage with an oil head, and when I came for a massage today, I was sure that I would be able to relax and enjoy the service I signed up for. But, unfortunately, this did not happen. Instead of a massage, the masseur just stroked me, and did not remember about the massage with warm oil at all. After about 15 minutes, I decide to ask when the massage with warm oil will be, but the masseur does not understand English. She is Thai and knows only Thai (I am not sure if she is here legally, she does not understand any language other than Thai). I used a translator on my phone so that she would somehow understand me, but even with a translator she did not understand. Next, she called the receptionist, who also tried to explain to the masseur through an online translator, but unfortunately it did not work. After that, the receptionist brought cold oil and, as it were, showed the masseur that he needed to do a head massage with him. The oil was icy, and the "massage" of the head was not a massage at all. They just patted my head for a couple of minutes and poured ice oil on my hair. At the reception, I did not pay € 49 for such a massage, since it was a regular massage (not even a massage, but stroking). I offered to pay € 39, as for a regular massage of 50 minutes (although my massage lasted 35 minutes). A terrible experience that doesn't even cost 10 €... I don't advise anyone to go for a massage here, it's a waste of money. When you come on vacation and go for a massage, you plan to relax, and not think about how to explain to the masseur what you need and tolerate cold oil on your head with body stroking, not a true massage.
