One of the Best Weeks I’ve Ever Had!
I had an amazing week here and truly enjoyed every moment. While the buildings are a bit dated, our room was very nice and spotlessly clean — housekeeping came every day, which I really appreciated.☺️
The food was absolutely delicious! I looked forward to every meal because there was such a great variety, and the menu changed daily. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious 🤤
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Despite the large number of guests, they were always quick and efficient — I never had any issues 🫶
The entertainment was another highlight! From fun daily activities to fantastic evening performances, there was always something to enjoy. It made the whole experience even more special.
I had such a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing vacation!

Great hotel. We stayed all-inclusive for 4 nights. The food was the best I've had at an all-inclusive. Lots of different choices and cooked perfectly. Very quiet, just what we needed. There's not much around but again what we wanted. Had entertainment on every night and lots for kids to do. We had a massage at the spa and the lady was great! All staff friendly. Would highly recommend 🫶

The hotel is a bit of a mixed bag, but if you come with preschool children, they will probably love the stay. And you'll enjoy some great meals and drinks, if nothing else.
First of all, Andrea and Celia from the animation team did an excellent job, both at daycare and during minidisco. They both put incredible energy into their work every day and showed amazing patience with shy or misbehaving children. The rest of the animation team seemed great, too, and there were plenty of activities to participate in.
The kiddie pool is probably too small and boring to entertain older kids, but it's great for younger kids and at least a part of it is always in the shade, which is great to prevent sunburn from long playtime. There are also two playgrounds to keep things varied.
The room was not ideal for a family with two little children - too cramped and with unstable glass sliding doors that are like a magnet for kids, which makes them an accident waiting to happen. The cleaning service was fine.
Food was great, not very varied but there was always something delicious to choose from. The restaurant staff were friendly and polite, too. The choice of drinks was solid, and having original Coca Cola/Sprite/etc. instead of cheap knock-offs was a pleasant surprise. The snack bar was rather small, but an option to make your own burgers from a variety of ingredients was nice.
There's only a small public beach, which got very crowded at the weekend and the sea was sometimes quite messy. Still, the sea access was very smooth, which was suitable for kids.
The reception was the biggest letdown. The staff there were kind and polite, but our interactions were a disappointment. The check-in took ages, and the lack of information they could provide about the local area, buses or even hotel services gave the impression of part-time staff, not experienced professionals.
Some of the facilities (showers, pool ladders, rest rooms) have seen better days, too. The luggage scales took our money but didn't work, and while the receptionist did give us a refund, she didn't even bother to turn the machine off or put up an "out of order" sign. And some of the arcade games are barely functional, apparently bootlegged machines, and just a waste of money. We did appreciate the cheap pool table, though.
All in all, the stay was pleasant enough, but we expected more from the room and reception staff. However, the kids enjoyed themselves and that's what matters the most.

Disclaimer: With all due respect, none of my negative remarks are intended for the hotel staff. Overall, they were wonderful people. I’d especially like to mention the lifeguard lady (unfortunately I didn’t get her name) — she took great care of me when I was stung by a jellyfish. I’d also like to thank the guest relations team for addressing our concerns quickly.
I’ll break my comments down into these sections — rooms, food, and facility — because I was mainly involved in these and will omit commenting on entertainment (animation and games), the pool area, and children’s facilities.
Rooms:
The rooms are spacious and the A/C was powerful enough to cool the room. However, there was an unpleasant smell when we first checked in. Also, the pillow had a sour smell and the room did not feel clean. There were spider webs in some visible corners. The bathroom was even worse — there were visible black spots (presumably mold) all around the shower area, including the rain shower head. There was no single bed; instead, two single beds were pushed side by side but they constantly spread apart, and one of them made a lot of noise. There was no fly screen on the balcony door. After contacting the management, some of these issues were quickly resolved, but not entirely, as some required in-depth maintenance. The photos I’m adding were taken after this thorough cleaning. Overall, when it comes to room cleanliness, the hotel needs to address serious issues.
Food:
We opted for all-inclusive. The food was average. Our main concern was that, most of the time, there were no labels to show the type of ingredients used, especially whether dishes contained pork. At one dinner, all proteins were pork — which we do not consume — so our options were highly limited. Again, after contacting management, this issue improved significantly (though I’m not sure if it was because of our feedback or not). In general, the food ranged from average to bad — often boring and tasteless. It was usually like a lottery: we did find a few things we truly enjoyed, but generally not. So do not expect to enjoy your meals, but you won’t be left hungry either. The snack bar was very boring. The bars and drinks were standard for an all-inclusive – off brand diluted drinks. But on a positive note, there were no long queues.
Facility:
The hotel is located in a near-perfect location, with direct access to a sandy beach in a beautiful cove. The sea was simply perfect. However, there are a few negatives about the facility. Although there were enough sunbeds, there were no umbrellas at the seafront near the rocks. If you want to stay in the shade, you have very limited options under a few trees, etc., so I can’t say it was comfortable to spend time there. The weird smell in the rooms was also present throughout the premises and was worst in the elevators. To access the pool & beach area as well as the restaurant, you have to use the elevators. The elevators have no ventilation, which makes them unbearably hot and humid. There were no air-conditioned bars, so there was no comfortable place to relax and have drinks. There was no changing room near the pool or beach, which I think is insane — I have never seen a hotel without a changing room near the pool before. Lastly, although we were given bracelets, we still had to provide our room number when entering the buffet during lunch and dinner. All the other hotels I have been to provided different bracelet colors for different levels, so it felt odd to state our room number every time while wearing a bracelet.
Overall, unfortunately, I can’t recommend this hotel despite the honest efforts of its staff.

STAY AWAY! My experience at the Occidental Cala Vines is incredibly disappointing. This hotel is far from 4 star resort, besides being old and outdated, with broken glass doors, missing door knobs, elevator buttons etc. there is musty smell everywhere, no ac or fans in the common areas, with addition to people smoking, it makes the environment unbearable. There is mold in the bathroom, no minibar, 2 bottles of water were provided on the first day - after that, nothing, not even coffee or tea in the room.
You have to pay €15 deposit for an iron or a beach towel - that is allowed to be exchanged only once every 3 days. There is no pool service, I saw the staff picking up plastic cups from the trash bin at the end of the day and pouring those leftover drinks outside on the floor, making me question whether those cups are being collected for recycling or something far worse!
I’m sorry but all this doesn’t talk an all inclusive 4 star experience to me. We were offered an upgrade to the sea view rooms after we tried to leave the hotel and were refused the refund. Next day, I spotted a huge cockroach on a bread loaf during breakfast at the buffet. I reported the incident to the manager, and heard nothing back. It seems that neglect and poor hygiene are the norm here. Avoid this place!
