We stayed for 5 nights on a short break on a bed and breakfast basis. Plenty of choice for breakfast. The hotel is located on top of a hill but we walked down to the shopping centre each evening for dinner and drinks and then got a taxi back which was cheap enough. Our room was lovely and cleaned daily. The hotel is built into the side of the mountain so getting from the room to the entertainment and bars took a bit of getting used to as we needed to get 3 different lifts. There were plenty of sunbeds available when we stayed but not sure how this would be at peak times. The pools were lovely but the floor is very slippy so take care. We had a great time and would definitely return again.

5 star fantastic stay - from start to finish!
The hotel accommodated our requests prior to arriving. Throughout our stay, the staff were incredible, the whole hotel and rooms were kept spotless, the food was amazing with lots of variety, and there was plenty of entertainment and sun beds. We always found a place to relax, and never had to queue for drinks. Could not fault them on anything! The only thing to be mindful of is the location at the top of the cliff - it makes for amazing views, but it’s 700 steps down to the Puerto Rico beach (however we didn’t mind the exercise).
Thank you so much to the hotel and the staff for everything you did for us! We had a perfect holiday and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area

We recently stayed at the Servatur Puerto Azul in Gran Canaria and overall had a good experience, though there were a few disappointments that affected our stay.
The Positives:
• Parking was straightforward and hassle-free, which made arrivals and day trips a lot easier.
• The on-site Spar supermarket was a great convenience and very reasonably priced – perfect for picking up snacks, drinks, and everyday essentials.
• The buffet food was varied with new options daily. Contrary to some reviews, we didn’t experience long queues or cold food – everything was fresh and well-stocked during our stay.
• The kids’ animation team was fantastic. They were energetic, engaging, and consistently ran fun activities that kept the children entertained throughout the day.
Room for Improvement:
• One of the biggest letdowns was the room situation. We booked what was advertised as a junior suite with a sea view, but on arrival, we were given a room with only a partial sea view. When we raised the issue with reception, we were told the listing was accurate and that only family suites have full sea views. This felt misleading and really put a damper on the first few days of our holiday. Picture of view from the room attached.
• The room had twin beds pushed together rather than a proper double, and without a mattress topper, it was uncomfortable for couples. Both the bed and pillows were too soft, making it hard to get a good night’s sleep.
• There’s a deposit required for an iron, which seemed a bit outdated.
• Coffee quality could use a serious upgrade – not one for coffee lovers.
• The lift system is quite confusing. As the hotel is built into a mountain, there are multiple lifts that only access specific floors. To get from one place to another, you often need to take two different lifts. To make things more complicated, the floor numbers differ depending on which lift you’re in – for example, the restaurant might be on floor 5 in one lift and floor 7 in another. It took a while to figure out.
Other Observations:
• The pool seemed to be heated, but likely only from mid-morning onwards. In the early hours, the water was pretty cold, but it warmed up to a comfortable, room-temperature level in the afternoon.
• Reception staff left a lot to be desired. Our check-in experience lacked any kind of warm welcome – we were greeted with a curt “only passport please” and a robotic explanation of the hotel layout. Other reception staff seemed similarly indifferent. That said, the rest of the hotel staff – restaurant workers, cleaners, entertainers – were all friendly and helpful.
Overall:
Servatur Puerto Azul has its strengths, especially for families: good food, a lively kids’ program, and convenient amenities. However, the room booking experience and lift setup left a sour note. If accurate room descriptions and clear hotel layouts are important to you, it’s worth double-checking the fine print before booking. With a few changes, this could be a much more enjoyable stay.

We had a lovely stay in February. I think we found 11 pools at the hotel and best part is that all of them were heated to 28-30 degrees (the air was 23 degrees). The animation team is great and theres water gymnastics every day. The food was also quite good and lots of variations. We will definitely consider to visit again if we go to Gran Canaria again.

Super friendly staff and very clean hotel. My wife and I arrived at check-in and were greeted by “Jadkarta” who was warm and welcoming! We booked the Premium Ocean View Suite but was offered a free upgrade to the Private loft swim out suite (double the price) which we kindly accepted. Oh boy were we glad we did as the views were impeccable and private swim out pool was truly a highlight of our stay. Relaxing in our pool while having a front row seat of the sunset was surreal!
The Gastro restaurant offered many different ethic foods which would satisfy most palates and the alcohol selection was limited but sufficient.
This hotel seems to be a family oriented spot with lots of kids even tho it was after the March break. After the general shows every night at 8:30-9:00pm there is no night life. Again it is a family oriented hotel so the trend is to sleep early and wake early.
We were gifted a free bottle of champagne for my wife’s birthday which was a nice little gesture and truly appreciated.
Being located at the top of the cliff expect a “fun” trek down to the malls and beaches, approximately 25 minutes. Coming back I strongly suggest a taxi for about 6 euros.
For a more lively hotel with a night life I would probably try something different next time, but if it is a chill n sleep early vibe I’m feeling then I would definitely come back here.
