Absolutely insane value for money. Had very reasonable expectations of this hotel as you cant expect the world considering how cheap it is but my group all said it surpasses their expectations. The pool area is lovely and the hotel is decorated very nicely. Location spot on and the staff are also lovely.

Me and a few of my friends arrived and got hassled by staff from the get go. Looking for any excuse to take money out of deposits. Constantly getting stared at by staff if we talked slightly loud or laughed. No music, no ball games, and we overall just felt like we were not welcome simply because they seen a group of lads looking to have a bit of a laugh. We were respectful and quiet compared to other guests at the hotel but we seemed to get shouted at every day for something. Staff was rude and the old man who owns it would literally just start staring at us for no reason. Quite a hostile environment. And to top it all off on our last day our flights weren’t to late that night so they allowed us to leave our bags in the hotel to only then ten minutes later say we were no longer allowed in the hotel and we had to take our bags with us. Absolute joke and they were very aggressive telling us to leave. “We have no place for people like you” that is exactly what they said. A nice spot in a good area ruined by ignorant staff. Will 100% not be back. Any younger lads going over with friends stay well clear I’ve never experienced ignorance like it. Also there was a couple who checked out the same morning as us but they were allowed to stay by the pool and keep they’re bags in hotel but we for some reason were not.

Our first time here in Portugal and we decided to stay at the Balaia Sol Holiday Club which unfortunately wasn't a very impressive stay. First of all the rooms are small, some reviews have stated that they are spacious but not in the room we stayed in it kind of resembled a prison cell. Secondly the room came with air conditioning which barely even blew a breeze let alone cool the room down so we had to endure 27 degrees of warmth when trying to sleep, the beds are basic singles which are not comfortable to sleep on, I would find that my pillows would fall off the bed in the night so I constantly had to keep picking them back up. The biggest con in this hotel was the problem with cockroaches, I woke up early in the morning only to find 1 on my bed and another on the wall at the side of me which made me not want to go back to sleep incase more of them appeared. The people staying in the apartment at the side of us also had the same problem spending almost an hour trying to kill them. The bathroom was small, toilet seat didn't go down all the way and the shower was placed in the middle of the wall rather then on top so it was difficult to wash your hair. The only positive I can say is that the hotel is nice and quiet so you won't have problems with noise as they don't allow it, they don't play music by the pool side during the day which is kinda boring. Portugal on the other hand is amazing, the hotel not so much so we won't be returning.

This place is an absolute kip, you cant even have a chat on the balcony after 10 without getting a noise complaint, staff are very unfriendly, not to mention the fact that we seen RATs go into our ground floor appartment. Do not waste your time staying here unless your an old person. Silchoro appartments way better.

Most importantly the Balaia Sol was clean, both the room and exterior pool area etc. It's quite basic but the room was sufficient for all our needs. A really good shower and cooking facilities, a fridge which was definitely needed with the heat in the week we were there. The beds were okay, could be a bit bigger, that would make a lot of difference to comfort. The staff are quite friendly and work hard, they don't allow guests to cause disruption around the pool that is good. It makes for a relaxing experience, also there is no banal thumping music pumped out so you can chill out properly!
Overall we would go back, that tells you everything you need to know.
