Türkiye is the perfect destination for an unrivalled beach holiday. You’ll find sun-kissed havens across the whole country, with some of the best stretches of coastline located in the southern region known as the Turkish riviera, particularly Antalya. Expect golden sand, aquamarine waters and Blue Flag shores in Side and Lara. Kuşadasi and Alanya boast immaculate family-friendly expanses like the two kilometre-long Cleopatra Beach in the later, while Marmaris, on Turkaegean shores, boasts an extensive strip of volcanic sand, the perfect spot for topping up your tan. Ölüdeniz is where you’ll find Belcekiz Beach, which is regarded as one of the finest in Türkiye, and located within easy reach of the enchanting Blue Lagoon. Bodrum is home to the sublime resorts of Gumbet and Bitez, where soft sands are in close proximity to a number of fabulous hotels, offering superb sea views and access to unparalleled sunshine-filled days.

Activities

A plethora of fun-filled activities are on offer across the diverse Türkiye landscape. Enjoy a pamper session in the spa, where Turkish baths are an extremely popular treatment to enjoy as a couple, with friends or by yourself. If you’re feeling active, you’ll find an abundance of water sports to choose from, with the Mediterranean and Aegean seas your playground for jet skiing, parasailing, windsurfing, scuba diving and snorkelling. Ölüdeniz's magnificent Blue Lagoon is perfect for swimming or a pedalo boat ride. Thrill-seekers can also take the plunge and paraglide from the top of the Babadağ Mountain. Families will love a trip to a waterpark, like the Troy Aquapark in Antalya, as well as visiting an aquarium and shopping in the traditional bazaars. Jeep safaris are an excellent way to take in the scenery and spot some endemic wildlife, while you can explore the "Turquoise Coast” when hiking through the Lycian Way nature path.

Turkey Nightlife

Nightlife

Let loose on a holiday to Türkiye. Whether you’re seeking some sophisticated beverages or a place to party through the night, these delightful shores promise it all plus more! Most famous is Marmaris, as it draws in revellers from all over the world for the ultimate summer event. The central promenade and Bar Street are the best areas to visit and are akin to other party destinations around the Mediterranean. Alanya is another lively destination in Türkiye that features a pulsating Bar District and four-storey nightclubs to ensure all music tastes are catered to. Bodrum is a kaleidoscope of enchanting beachfront bars and clubs that are open as chilled areas of relaxation in the daytime before they become vibrant hotspots after dark. Visit here for a unique nightlife experience as you can have a tipple in the renowned Halikarnas Club or venture out to sea on a glass-bottomed boat called Club Catamaran.

Turkey Cuisine

Cuisine

Take yourself on a culinary adventure by sampling Türkiye’s finest fare. Tuck into traditional foods, like the world-famous kebab, and kahvalti, a breakfast dish often drizzled in honey. Türkiye is surrounded by sea and bursting with a myriad of lakes, rivers and streams, making fish and seafood a popular choice for many locals and holidaymakers. Try centuries-old recipes like midye dolma, also known as stuffed mussels, and pickled fish. Pickling is central to Turkish culture and heritage, and is a practice that dates all the way back to the Ottoman Empire. The Turkish Riviera is a flourishing region that's fuelled by the imposing Taurus Mountains. You’ll find fruit orchards, orange groves and vineyards in abundance here, which offer tours that are perfect for family-friendly days out or romantic afternoons winemaking and wine tasting. Relax with a cup of apple tea or strong Turkish coffee. Pair this with authentic Turkish delights for the ultimate sweet treat.

Turkey Culture

Culture

Türkiye is a cultural hive brimming with wonders and heritage. Visit stunning points of interest and unbelievable architecture secreted in mystical areas, soak up all of the rich history and immerse yourself in some of Türkiye‘s most important traditions. Bodrum is home to the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, while Kuşadasi is located near the ruins of Ephesus, both wonders of the ancient world. Ephesus dates back to ancient times and is the site of many wondrous temples, churches, a library and a theatre. Explore the landscape of Antalya to discover the cobblestone streets, Ottoman houses and Roman harbour in Kaleiçi before venturing to the quiet resort of Side to visit the Temple of Apollo and Athena, the Nympaeum and Side Museum, which is housed in former Roman baths. The whole family will love inspecting the ancient relics, like an olive press, Roman statues and sarcophagi.

Best time to visit

Best time to visit

Türkiye is an incredibly versatile destination that you can visit all year round. The best time of year to visit varies depending on what type of holiday you’re looking for. For a consistent temperature of around 25℃ and sunny days, spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) are generally the most ideal periods as they are great for family holidays, sightseeing and outdoor activities. Summer (July and August) is hotter still, creating conditions that are sublime for a beach holiday. The mild sea temperatures means you can get active with some thrilling water sports, but you will find more crowds at this time of year, especially during the school holidays. Alternatively, Türkiye is great for a winter sun holiday and for those who are seeking a quiet getaway with some superb savings. Depending on what region you visit, some rain or snow can be expected but you can rest assured that it’ll be warmer than the UK.
