We have just returned from a fabulous week at The Viva Cala Mesquida Suites and Spa where the surroundings were the most tranquil we have ever experienced. The food was excellent and varied every day, including a good choice from the a la carte lunchtime menu. There is a beautiful pool area with 2 pools, plenty of sun beds and umbrellas, all kept exceptionally clean and tidy. We greatly enjoyed the aqua fit every day under the guidance of Laura from the animation team. She was always great fun and made every session hugely enjoyable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

This is the third time we have visited this hotel and we were so excited to return after 2 really lovely previous holidays.
Unfortunately, we left feeling somewhat disappointed compared to our previous visits.
The biggest change here I think is service. Whilst the staff were nice enough, there was a feeling that many of them lacked the customer service experience and professionalism we had experienced prior.
As it was our third visit to the hotel and this time a special occasion, I emailed them in advance to ask for a specific room if it was at all possible. I had received a reply saying no guarantee, but they would try, great I thought. Sadly, upon arrival the receptionist had no idea we had been before and there was no mention of the previous communication.
We had booked a junior garden suite and on day 1 noticed we didn’t have an umbrella, I asked three different staff members for one and we still didn’t get one , or any kind of follow up to our request. We booked the tapas restaurant for one of our evenings, the service was painfully slow - we waited 45 mins between courses. Food was nice but service honestly so bad. The restaurant was not busy either. We were then asked by two different staff to leave a review of the restaurant.
On our last day we put our suitcases into storage as our transfer wasn’t picking us up until the evening. We had asked if we would be able to use the facilities to have a shower before leaving, we were told yes no problem. Then we were told abruptly no by someone completely different because ‘we had not booked’. He was not interested in helping us.
I remember the drinks on our first two trips being excellent - cocktails in particular , but really noticed a drop in standards here too.
The hotel is still peaceful, the breakfast is excellent and the pool area never too busy. It’s just a lot of small disappointments that sadly add up to have a big impact over all.

Amazing break in this lovely hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
My only advice is to book, at least, half board as the area is very quiet and there is nowhere else to eat

I booked for 5 nights in August, this being my first holiday in over 10 years and my first solo holiday. I couldn't have picked a better hotel. I was nervous initially and glad they offered on-site activities such as yoga, guided walks etc. I'm sure these would have been great but when I actually arrived I realised I just wanted to do nothing but sit by the pool with a book and relax for my stay! The hotel and location was beautiful. I'm vegetarian but had no issues with the quality of food with vegetarians and vegans being catered for. I ate at the buffet for breakfast and dinner each day and the food was amazing. I spent the days at the new pool which I think was quieter, but there were never any issues at the hotel getting a sunlounger. Plenty of space. Lovely clean pool areas and great swim up pool bar.
If you are looking for a mix of bars and nightlife this wouldn't be the location for you. If however you are just looking for a beautiful location (next to sand dunes/nature reserve and lovely quiet walks) and really just want to destress and relax - this is a great choice.
I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my stay at this hotel and the on-site evening entertainment was just what was needed to relax with a drink at the bar.
I would definitely return to this hotel and hope to book again next year. Thankyou for a great relaxing holiday.

Great hotel very close to beach. Staff friendly and very helpful. Entertainment is ok, they are not going to please everyone. Paid for full board. However, there were still a few things on the menu that were extra cost. So, not everything all in. Great pools and swim up bars. Most sunbeds are free, howeve there are a few sunbeds that are 22 Euros!! per day and most unused during our stay.
The look of the new pool area is very sofiticated and clean looking, but it has very little shade.
The grass area with very nice jacuzzi has a few sun bed but no umbrellas for shade, yes you could move around under the trees but people don't, this is the same issue in the main area around the 2 pools.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this hotel, and hopefully, our last 3 days, we will be good.
One thing I would ask for is much better air conditioning in the large dining area.
Finally the TV in the bedroom area does NOT work and even after explaining twice in reception that it is NOT the tv in the lounge area, all the happens is we come back to our room the the TV in the lounge area has been left on (proving it is working, but we already knew that) It is not really an issue (as the weather is amazing) but should be fixed.
Good hotel and would return.
