The best part of the hotel was Amado & Regina! They made it so much fun and had awesome pool activities. 5 stars for them! But overall the resort is okay. Can’t complain with the deal I got though which is why I give it 3 stars.

Staff are very nice and friendly , hotel was lovely , but there’s pros and cons to this hotel that made us not think about coming back.
Cons: do not use the atm in the hotel we took money out and we never got our money but was charged to my bank, nothing the staff could do for us. There’s no straws if you’re drinking frozen cocktails it’s hard to enjoy them. We were never told we needed to give towels back at reception and they tried to charge us 25$ each for towels we handed back to the towel dispenser by the pool. We booked returned transfer which the front desk couldn’t give us a time to meet the transport and rang us to tell us at 5am our transport was ready for a 9am flight we were ready in 20 minutes and the transfer left after we paid 75$ for it. Pros food was enjoyable, restaurant and bar staff nice , room was basic but was cleaned everyday.

My stay at the Occidental Cancun was one of the most disappointing experiences of my life. Where do I even begin? Let’s start with the food. The quality was abysmal; it tasted like it had been sitting out for days, and I ended up with a severe case of food poisoning that ruined several days of my vacation. I couldn’t even enjoy the beautiful surroundings because I was stuck in my room, sick as a dog. And when I tried to bring it up with the staff, they were dismissive and unapologetic, as if it was my fault for expecting decent food.
But the food wasn’t the only issue. The service was appalling. It seemed like the staff couldn’t care less about the guests. They were slow, rude, and seemed annoyed whenever you asked for something. It felt like I was inconveniencing them by being there.
And don’t even get me started on the noise. Every night, they blasted music through speakers that were so loud, I could hear it in my room as if I was standing next to the DJ booth. It was impossible to get any rest until they finally turned it off at 11pm. And even then, the noise from other guests partying in the halls went on until the early hours of the morning.
But the worst part? Someone broke into my room in the middle of the night. I woke up to find a stranger rifling through my belongings. I was terrified. When I reported it to the hotel, they acted like it was no big deal and brushed it off, offering no apology or compensation for the violation of my privacy and security.
Overall, my experience at the Occidental Cancun was a nightmare. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a complete waste of money and ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation.

The place was nice my room was surprisingly big and clean. The shower was awesome. I enjoyed the mini bar in the room. I only ate at the buffet. My first night I had Alfredo Gil as my waiter. He was amazing. I requested to sit in his area the remaining of my stay. He had remembered both me and my husband favorite drink. He was very attentive to our needs. Alfredo was so kind and friendly. He helped make our stay even more enjoyable. Wonderful guy!

Everything was great during our stay. The food was great and the service was phenomenal. Carlos Abarca and Alfredo Lopez service in the Albatros restaurant went above and beyond our expectations. They knew us by name and treated us as family. David the manager extended his hospitality as well. Everyone that we dealt with was great. We are definitely coming back and look forward to making Occidental Costa Cancún our regular vacation spot.
