Our stay at Royal Hideaway Playacar was absolutely wonderful! The resort itself is stunning – beautifully maintained grounds, lush greenery, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to relax the moment you arrive. The location couldn’t be better, with a gorgeous beach and easy access to Playa del Carmen’s shops and attractions.
Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable – perfect for unwinding after a day in the sun. The staff truly made our stay exceptional; everyone we encountered was warm, attentive, and eager to help with anything we needed.
The food was fantastic with plenty of variety, though a few dishes could use a bit more flavor at times. Still, the overall dining experience was excellent, and we appreciated the high quality and presentation of every meal.
Only downside was the limited nightly entertainment.
Overall, Royal Hideaway Playacar is a beautiful, relaxing resort with top-notch service and a fantastic location. We left feeling refreshed and would definitely come back again!

Ok let’s make a simple review because everything was above perfect.
Staff, always with a smile making you comfortable super professional to name a few thank you Roberto (animator) Alexa, Alexi, Carlos, Victor, Ulises, Julian, and the great host Yuliana and Kathya and so on. Thank you for everything you are the best. Our concierge Cipriano was super patience and very professional.
Food, perfect as much as you want with nice finest restaurants. If you expect lobster very single day just remember how much you paid for the entire package and you will definitely see that you cannot ask for more.
Drinks as many you want, all brands all day. It was amazing.
Please don’t forget to leave tips they deserved.
Hotel, excellent is not a brand new hotel, but is vey well care. Surroundings are amazing it looks like you are in the middle of the paradise too much green and an artificial river with two main pools in front of the beach and a few private small pools with jacuzzi yo spend time with your love.
Like I said we travel a lot and this place is in our list to come back.
Thank you to all of you from your friends Oscar and Maria.

Great place, spent 7 nights here for our honeymoon, food is amazing drinks were good. The semi private pools are a bonus as well. The only negative things I have is that the room always had a musty smell to it until we covered the drains with towels, also for a couples resort we only kept getting one coffee mug put in our room, and we also after the 3rd day not as much refreshments were being put in pur room even when we would leave extra things for the cleaners, also we really notice that if you speak Spanish you get a little more attention from the servers and the resort staff, at times we felt really our of place when in a restaurant those how could speak Spanish would get extra time at their tables. Overall I would love to come back and tell friends to come as well. I've always gone to Dominican Republic, this was my first time in Mexico and will never go anywhere else.

Overall very good for the all-inclusive experience, but as expected the food is a bit hit and miss. Recommend mainly choosing things that have to be made fresh, like fish, rather than lumps of meat. Pools are great, staff are v friendly, beach set-up is wonderful. Rooms great too- lots of space and terrace/balcony.
Also FYI the resort heavily aimed at Americans (in music, activities - pool NFL/NBA sessions?! - and non-Mexican food options) so if you’re not from there it can feel a bit weird. Recommend venturing out of the compound a bit, even if only to the shops/bars complex across the road.
Non-Americans: be aware tips are expected!

The front entrance is beautiful. The entire grounds are very well maintained. Wow, if you are coming for the ocean/pool view. This is the place. The pool is spread across wide to the beach so it is amazing. Pool drinks is better to not order off the menu because too weak. Just order your own. Hot tubs are just slightly warm but it is Mexico. Would have been nice if they turned the heat up on the rainy days we were there. The garden pools are so relaxing and romantic with serene music.
This place is totally for a couple that wants a place that is not full capacity, the music isn't party music and a romantic setting. Next door it is definitely party scene. We loved sailing! Wouldn't stay here more than 4 nights because the food for breakfast and lunch is all the same.
The rooms are smaller and outdated but definitely reasonable for the price. Just not enough room to hang out in. More likely to just lay in bed. Huge bathroom. Not worth your money to get an ocean view etc. There is like 6 rooms that are true ocean view so save there. Room service wasn't too great in the am they didn't bring eggs but could bring coffee and croissants but is better and full service mid day.
For the price the food is still good. I wouldn't expect a 5 star restaurant but we had a great price. I was sad about not having fresh fruit, veggies etc. But full disclosure my husband and I got norovirus. This could have been from eating the salad where they wash food items and not cook them or where we didn't brush our teeth with bottled water. Our bad!! But that makes more sense there wasn't those fresh food.
I wouldn't go here for the shows they were alright (Mexican mariachi band and then circus performers) but made it awkward not too many at them so felt like I had to clap more to thank those performing throughout the shows.
It is not authentic Mexican food but you can walk around 25 minutes to go to 5th Avenue to get some. I was worried about the walk but it is best case scenario safe!!! The whole walk until the shoppes is in a gated community of just the resorts and high end wealthy homes. It is mostly a shaded walk with sidewalks too. Loved that. The shoppes on 5th be prepared for every shop owner to talk to you to go into their store. Recommend eating tacos at Don Sirlion.
