Absolutely fantastic hotel, the room is lovely we got given a free upgrade so have a pool view. The food choice and quality is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Unfortunately the second half of our trip was very noisy and disruptive due to hordes of under 14's staying for a football competition, they were noisy and every evening till nearly midnight were running around the corridors and banging on doors.

Fabulous hotel, staff were all very polite and efficient, clean... So clean! Food was good. We did 10 days all inclusive and always found something different. We ate out in Alvor a couple of times too which was nice to have the quiet from the busy dining at the hotel. Pool is huge, it was cold especially first thing in the morning but the kids seemed not to care, the pool can get a bit crowded on some days but we usually always found a lounger if we were late getting down in the morning. The entertainment team were great and full of energy, put on great shows. Kids tried kids club a couple of times and seemed to like the activities and how quiet it was compared to other resorts we have been to. The grounds and kids play area were great. Little shop on the hotel had lots of useful things but there's lots of shops in Alvor and it's worth the walk down as its a beautiful place. We hope to be back sometime.

We are here at the moment, having been here previously more than twice a year and been happy with the room we were allocated, but not this time. I feel we were given one of the smallest rooms available, when asked to change was told fully booked. I know that is not true as I was very observant of available empty rooms during our stay.The room was very dingy and dark and dissapointing, we are used to better.Having said that it was nice to see some of the same staff still there . They were so friendly to us and the food was always lovely, but not always hot. The kebabs are to die for.The cleanliness is so good here cannot fault anything at all apart from our room. My husband is disabled and would like to see walk in showers in some of the rooms.

This is not a 4star hotel. Very limited food offer in restaurant same most days . No pool tables no real games room . Indoor pool u have to pay extra bd kids can only use between 6 and 7pm . Limited drinks menu. When we stay there was a booking with over 600 kids in a football tournament who took over hotel. Very noisy here everything from floor above and corridor. Entertainment is prob the worst ever seen in a hotel . Staff do nothing when u raise a complaint. Lovely area shocking hotel. We won't be back

Please take note of all the negative reviews. They are all correct! The hotel is too big and can not offer what they say. The pools are too small for the number of guests. We were all inclusive..... drinks are small, and the bar is too busy. The bar shuts at 10.30 pm!! The other bars are a walk up the hill. The main restaurant is OK but repetitive and the other restaurants are OK. They tell you the other restaurants are fully booked, but if you email a complaint about this, they find you a table! It is certainly not as good as other all-inclusive hotels I have been to. But I love the Algarve and I will be back but not to this hotel. I don't recommend it at all.

Whatever you do, do not stay at the this hotel. We’ve had the worst experience. On arrival we had to wait 2 hours to check into room, why I have no idea. When we did get in the room it was covered in Ants. Breakfast the next morning was pretty awful, shells in the eggs etc. We then ask for sun loungers for the balcony as everyone else rooms had them. 4 times we went to reception to ask for these and were told someone would be over with them. Nothing happened, still waiting. And to top it all off we asked about later check out as our flight isn’t until the evening tomorrow. One lady said yes no problem but you need to pay. Which is no problem, she said pop back in an hour and see someone. We went back, the guy immediately laughed, so no way it wasn’t possible. He was so Rude and didn’t even asked our room number so Couldn’t possibly know if it’s booked or not. Horrendous experience it’s not worth 2 stars never mind 4 terrible

Most rooms have ants. The rooms smell like rotten drains. The cleaners do not clean rooms properly. The food is not nice. We paid all inclusive and we are having the worst time. So many issues. They advertise 26 restaurants but they are all fully booked even though when you look inside they are not its very strange. The customer service skills are poor, maybe it's because it is the end of the season and they are tired. It's making have a very unenjoyable time very disappointed 😞 all suggestions they have made to overcome our issues are to downgrade us. The entertainment sets up approx 15% tables and chairs so if you get there late you have to stand up and it feels like you are standing in the way of people sitting down so we don't even bother with it. We have spent so much money eating out even though we are all inclusive. The only thing good about this place is the view of the sea. But we won't stay here again. The vile smell we are waking up to each day is just too bad.

Absolutely amazing holiday at this hotel. We stayed 6 nights and could not fault the rooms, hotel and food! Entertainment in the daytime was fantastic. The aqua aerobic by Boris and colleague was really good and hard work! Darts fantastic. The gardens in the hotel are perfectly manicured and pool super clean. Hotel is literally facing two sandy beaches and I would run every morning on the broad walks. I have stayed in many all inclusives all around the world and the buffet food does get a bit samey wherever you go, so I highly recommend you booking the a la cart restaurants that were dotted around the hotel some a 10 min walk which was nice. It adds an element of going out for dinner which we loved. Loved the Japanese restaurant! 10/10

We have been holidaying at The Residences for ten years now, returning every October. On each visit, we have found it such a delight to return and receive such a wonderful, friendly welcome from all the staff here. The staff at The Piazza Restaurant are always so happy, friendly and welcoming where nothing is ever too much trouble. They work incredibly hard. The rooms are spacious, bright and beautifully laid out and the daily cleaning service is amazing. I think it is very unfair of the negative comments I have read. If you want entertainment then please go and stay at a hotel, the idea of a self catering establishment is just that, you entertain yourself! The majority of people wander to the marina or anywhere else to have dinner and drinks. This is a wonderful holiday complex to visit.

Fantastic place. The apartment was very good, with all the commodities that we needed. Nice balcony to our meals and a full equipped kitchen. The only thing that was less good, was the lack of supervision in the pool. Although there were signs, people still brought their inflatables, games, balls, drinks in a glass an so on. Sometimes you had 3/4 families playing games in the pool from on side to the other. But, overall, it is a fantastic place.

I have stayed with my family many times at Auramar and we are just home from a 5 night stay and everything was fantastic Location,rooms and the food was great as we always go all inclusive. Just spent the last 10 days at the Auramar beach resort and we loved it. We seen alot of reviews saying it was outdated and yeah it's not exactly modern but that didn't bother us because it was so clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly , rooms were clean and had a small fridge with we found very helpful. Food was standard but good variety. The best part was the pool and location , plenty of space and sun loungers and great pool bar with access right down onto the beach. They also did a beach towel rental service and supplied fresh clean towels every day which was nice and a free shuttle bus in and out to old town albufeira every day. Overall we really enjoyed it here! We would definitely return and recommend

Rooms were adequate although a bit old. Very noisy sometimes during the night. Airco was placed on the balcony facing the chairs and table, very awkward. Large and kid-friendly main pool. Staff was very friendly. Food was as good as it gets for an all inclusive regime. There was always something good to eat during the main courses. The food in between however was not great at all. Nor were the alcoholic beverages but again that's something to be expected. Location was great. Direct access to a large beach.

We’ve just come back from our holiday staying at this hotel and had the most wonderful time, cannot fault it at all. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious and such an enormous choice, the room was spacious and very clean as was the hotel itself. The pool was great for the children and the beach is not even 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The location is very quiet as far from the road. Can’t comment on the entertainment as we didn’t participate but our children went twice to the kids club and loved it. A bottle of sparkling wine was left in our room on my husbands birthday which was a nice touch! We would definitely recommend. Special thank you to Amandeep and Gerson who were truly adorable :)

Big, massive hotel, great room size. Good English breakfast and cereal. However, the pictures online are far from reality on the ground. The room I was in with my partner had a single bed, and we were made to understand that this is how all the rooms are. We requested that the bed arrangement should be changed to a double size. The TV remote wasn't working, which made it a bit of a challenge to either switch the TV on or off. We could only have it either way when we were in bed. The room intercom is not working; you have to go to the reception to pass your message. If you are not careful, if you close the sliding door behind you on the balcony, hotel staff would have to let you back into your room, depending on the time of the lockout. The outside pool was quiet, probably due to the period we visited, but the indoor pool was busy, as the kids and adults enjoyed the indoor splash. As hotel guests, it was also a surprise for me to have to pay €8 to use the gym. Aside from that, should there be an emergency in the gym, there are no clear directions to the emergency exit from the gym. In my opinion, the rating I would give the facility out of 5 is 3.5.

Great hotel, brilliant pool. Rooms are decent, beds are comfortable. Balcony is big enough, a pool view would have been better. Check in is after 2pm. Toilet and shower is good. Overall, it’s a good hotel. Pool staff are quite strict, you can’t bring your own food or drinks to the pool.

Came for a 5 night get away in October, would not recommend at all. On arrival, the hotel reception staff were very friendly, which was nice as we'd had a delayed flight and transfer so it was 2am by the time we got to the hotel. We had to pay a "tourist tax" on arrival, which wasn't expensive, but we didn't know about it before hand. At 2am, the hotel had nowhere it could provide bottled water, no vending machine, no shop. I had to walk to a kebab shop on the corner of the complex (outside) to buy some water. I thought that was bizarre as they sell weed products in the hotel vending machines, but not water... The first night, I was too tired to notice just how uncomfortable the bed was, but by night 3 my neck and back did a good job at reminding me. The beds are awful, with sprung mattresses that have well passed their useable life. The bedding was stained and the pillows felt like they were stuffed with socks, the stuffing all separated over night and left me lying in a void with a cricked neck. The rooms are dated, in fact the entire hotel decor is dated. We stayed in room 745, which faced the outside of the complex. This was fine, but the balcony is seriously unsafe for children. The wall is really low, lhip height for an adult. How the hotel haven't seen falls is beyond me. Out room was in pretty bad shape, with towel railings broken, only 1 working plug socket (which happens to be above the sink.. there are none near the bed), the TV was damaged with a blue spot in the center. There are tons of switches in the room, like light switches, that don't do anything at all. Working out the lights was ridiculous. The facilities were pretty bad too. We had a self service room, but decided that the facilities were too poor for us to actually prepare food. Not only that, the room was booked for 3 people, but the table and chairs provided only sat 2 people, and needed dragging about to actually make use of it where it was stored. The noise in the room was bad, not from outside, but from appliances in the room. The Air-conditioning continuously buzzed, with a super bright "20" that lit up the room shown on the front. The fridge was the loudest fridge in the world, rumbling away every 10minutes, loud enough to wake me up through the night. The first full day we had, we decided to check out the local area, which is really nice. The beach is amazing, with a lovely sandy beach, amazing restaurants and cafes. If it weren't for the local area, this holiday wouldn't have been a holiday at all. We spent nearly all of our time outside of the hotel. The one occasion we tried to use the pool was seriously dissatisfying. The outdoor pool is a good size, and deep in places for adults who want to swim, but it is definitely not big enough for the hotel it is supporting and that was really evident as we were there off season and still struggled to get sunbeds. The sunbed situation is stupid. There are 3 types of bed. Blue ones with adjustable backs that are around the poolside, first come first serve, but not many. White lay-flat ones around the wider area. And some black/grey ones that are fully adjustable that are a bit further away, but face the highpoint of the sun, which the hotel charge €7.50 each for! Not only this, but the staff were really unhelpful and rude at the poolside. We wanted to buy drinks, but the poolside bar is cash only (and it's cash only for the pool towel hire that they don't provide for free) so we went to the main bar and used card to buy drinks. On going back to the pool, the staff stopped us saying "only drinks bought at the poolside bar van be drank by the pool", which is a stupid rule as surely it's all the same company. The pool experience was as a let down, not only that, but the pool was full of sand and the water was salty. Really not worth it. The gym is actually really good, but expensive and not included as a facility with the room (not our package anyway) The indoor pool looked nice, but another stupid rule of a "swim caps are mandatory" put us off from trying it as the caps were €5.

Food is portugese but still very nice and healthy. Bar food very good for children. Highly recommend. Especially because of staff they are amazing 😊😊👌👌♥️

We had a fabulous family holiday in August 2024. I was nervous as I booked this hotel before reading reviews and some of the reviews are not positive. But, we have been very pleasantly surprised in the last week. The staff at this hotel are super helpful, reception, bar, restaurant and entertainment staff are all great people who obviously love their jobs. The food was pretty good- very nice toasties beside the pool, we were all inclusive so we had a lot of those. We were limited to certain wines, beers but I think that's normal with self included packages. The hotel room was very spacious , we had a two bed apartment and have two teenagers and a little girl so plenty or room which was really comfortable. The apartment was spotlessly clean and was cleaned every day. The main attraction was the pool, which was huge with great activities every day, aqua aerobics, waterpolo, dancing and also a diving area which had 4 different heights. There was a shortage of umbrellas around the pool but this is also a common problem in most holiday hotels. There is a good Spar shop and a holiday type shop in the reception area and both were reasonably priced. The main negative is the need for repair work in some areas of the hotel. There are some cracked tiles in the corridors and around the pool area. Our patio door lock broke while we were there but the maintenance men had it repaired within an hour. Overall, we had fabulous holiday and I would recommend this hotel. if you look past the need for refurbishment, the hotel has a lot of positives.

A few problems on arrival but sorted fairly swiftly by Sophia, hotel manager and holiday company. Buffet food could be hotter. Good selection but dining areas were exceptionally busy. Nice to eat in 'The Grill' a small restaurant on the complex. This is ideal for families as there appeared to be a variety of activities on offer. I would commend 90% of the staff for their helpfulness. Sadly there is always one that let's things down. The shuttle bus would be more user friendly if it ran so that a morning or afternoon could be spent off resort, rather than all day. There is an additional charge for the bus. Better if included as part of all inclusive offering.

Well it changed a lot. From free drinks to difference between premium and non-premium all inclusive drinks. Rooms are big, but if you have a room near the restaurant than it smells a lot and they are loud. How can you charge a deluxe room price in such condition? A big disgrace. Rooms are very clean and cleaning service is excellent. People in overall are very friendly and child-friendly. Food buffet is great, but it also changed a lot. I miss at the Portuguese buffet. Everyday almost the same. I also noticed the hotel is missing a Portuguese touch in overall. Half of the bar people doesn‘t understand Portuguese and we have to tell them 2-5 the same order. It's kinda annoying. Big plus: Very awesome to be near the beach. Max 5 minute walk.

Lovely place. Huge area where all buildings with rooms are allocated. Two swimming pools, main and smaller. Very close to beach, down over the cliff. 94 steps are not that bad, especially with the view you see coming down. Variety of food for all meals and snacks.

The place is clean and tidy, the food is amazing, the entertainment is great, the customer service from reception, to catering, and cleaners are all 100% exceptional. Nice and big swimming pool, near to the beach. Also thank you for the birthday cake surprise. it made my day more exciting. Great for family breaks.

Our start was a bit bumpy as we've got a room where the air-condition had some issues and we've been on the first floor and it wasn't much fun with a stroller but we raised these at the reception and we got a ground floor room on our second day. The receptionists were lovely, especially the guy with the glasses and the tall red-haired lady (we didn't catch their names 😶) The food was amazing. It didn't matter if breakfast, lunch, dinner or even snacks.. I was checking the reviews before we went there and really don't understand, what the issue was for some guests... There were fresh fruits every time, pickled and fresh vegetables, amazing selection of cheese, fish and meats 😋 The guys at the door were amazingly nice. Also special thanks to Catarina, she always had a big smile on her face; and the two guys as well: I think one was Muhammad (I hope I got his name, he didn't really talk much but he always had a big smile and was very polite) and there was another person, he started when we were there, I think on the 6th October, he doesn't really speak English but he was always very polite and he was very friendly with our wee one. I also have to mention the cleaning lady (we were at T103), when she came into our room, our little one was sleeping nearly every time and she tried to be as quiet as possible but still clean our room as we requested. The only - I would say - con was the coffee machine, it's not really available early morning (before breakfast time). We - as a couple in the past - never went to all-inclusive before because we loved to go and explore new places every day; but now with our little one, this place was a perfect choice 😊 We even discussed that at some point we will return to your hotel.

I have had many holidays in Colina da Lapa over the last few years and will continue to use the facilities in the future. The apartments are simple, very clean, and very well-equipped. Any stay I had was always stress-free and a delight. The last holiday I had in the group, I left a gold ring behind on the kitchen counter. After making contact, the Management found the ring and were efficient in dispatching it and keeping contact, that would have been expected and it was refreshing to see. As the object got lost (registered post), Mr. Matos displayed a level of honesty and diligence following up with the Portuguese Post office on my behalf that I have never experienced in my entire life. I highly commend and recommend this place for holidays and I am very grateful for the kind and professional display I have experienced in my dealings with this Group. Thank you.

Stayed ten days at Colina da Lapa, wish it was one night! Overall not much was working in the room.Shower working every second day, either no pressure or hot water. Old and dirty. Beds are as hard as the floor, almost impossible to sleep. Kitchen old and dirty. Cuttlery, if you are lucky, you get the same type of glas, knife etc. In general not fresh.Service is almost none. Tried to have breakfast in the restaurant one morning, turned around almost as I came in. Dirty, bad smell, and not fresh what so ever. No lightning during nighttime, easy to fall, especially in the steep stairs. If you can , avoid this hotel!

Lovely resort in a lovely place. Dos Caneiros beach is at about 25-30 minutes walk but they have a free shuttle to go there an come back as well. They also have a free shuttle to Carvoiero the nearest small town. Members of staff are friendly and polite. I had a great time and I recommend.

Our stay this time was abysmal. Seems like the resort has become a famous party place by now. I can definitely not recommend it to families and those who want to have a pieceful and calm stay. Many people used their villa as a party place and were celebrating in large groups day and night. Loud music, karaoke parties and yelling nearly 24h. If I want to sleep out - no chance their music woke us up. I want to lay by the pool and have silence - no chance, there was screaming and music, so loud we could not even listen to our own music on headphones without being bothered. I want to sit and chill with the family in the evening- no chance… karaoke and party is all you get to hear from around. When I finally fell asleep I woke up again due to the noises of the partying neighbors. Even after complaining a ridiculous amount of times at the reception, nothing really happend. In such cases the reception should be strict. Rules are necessary for noises/ partying. This place advertises to be a silent vacation home and all you get is people around you partying, so we were sleepless during our holidays almost every night - which is absolutely not tolerable. Manager did not took it serious, that our whole holidays were ruined because people broke the „house rules“ (without consequences) Imagine you go on holiday and you cannot sleep well and could not relax- for the price that they take absolutely not worth! problems with the wifi, the electricity, the pool and the house keeping. The housekeeping is really lazy. They used to clean everyday and now they come on occasion around every 2nd day, really superficial cleaning, leaving the bathrooms and terrace uncleaned. Unbelievable. pool was full of bugs and was cleaned only once. Generally, the villas are poorly soundproofed. Not again, so sad but after this experience we won’t continue to come

(Self catering, 1 bedroom apartment) Feb 2024 Pros: - The resort is very stunning the outside is absolutely beautiful I love the way it’s all been built and decorated. - It’s in a remote area very nice and peaceful. - No issues with staff rooms were cleaned the beds were made everyday and was given fresh towels. - I heard they provide free transport to the beach and to the town. - They offer you 10% off dining at their restaurant. - They have a pool and jacuzzi available for everyone. - Tennis & Basketball courts. Cons: - I guess you could say it is away from public transport but we had a car to drive around so was no issue for us. - The walls are quite thin. The neighbours upstairs were talking amongst themselves and had the TV on and you could hear them and the neighbours next door … well … she was having an intimate time and you could hear it all even from the living room which was on the other side. - The washing machine didn’t seem to be working had no power but as we were here for literally a few days we had no time in between to be running around trying to have it fixed so wasn’t the end of the world for us personally. - The rooms are also outdated. The outside is honestly absolutely stunning but the rooms were abit of a let down. - There was 3 of us and only 1 bedroom. 2 single beds joined and 1 sofa bed which made an awful lot of sound when you would turn over.

This was the first holiday in a number of years. We couldn't have found a more perfect hotel. It was close to both the Strip and the Old Town both within walking distance but a little hilly. There was a supermarket and fast food place very close to the hotel so if your are doing self-catering you will have plenty of choice. It was my birthday and I received a bottle of Cava from the hotel management. We will go back again. Loved it.

Great hotel, very modern with good amenities. Had a self catering 1 bedroom apartment. Great view of the pool and sea, very polite staff and excellent location for Albufeira Old Town. Lots of sun loungers by the pool, a restaurant and bar are included. Indoor pool along with a gym and massages available. Next door to a well known patisserie with beautiful cakes.

Excellent hotel in a perfect spot in albufeira. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are great especially Viktor in the bar, a genuinely nice guy. The studio rooms for four people are extremely big, big bedroom, bathroom and living room, balcony with sea views. The pool area is large with a great snack bar, plenty of sun loungers and there’s not a race to them each day as there’s enough to go round. Overall an excellent hotel at the price point.

Great location. Great accommodation. Maid service every day. Very clean. Book private transfer to get to places rather than taxi. Much cheaper. Zoomarine is a great place to visit for anyone. It has pirate and dolphin show plus rides and a pool.

We had a great stay. The location is perfect right at the beach, city center at 15min walk. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Cleaning was done daily. Cant really think of anything that was not in order, would love to come back for sure. 5 stars from me 😀

Great apartments, we have a one bedroom apartment as was told they have 2 cooking rings so when I arrived and we had 4 I was over the moon 😀 Apartments are cleaned and fresh towels daily - absolutely amazing job. There's a small shop on the complex that sells a good range of things and cooks fresh bread each day. There are 3 pools, although a warning- the main pool is 2.5m deep the whole way across (no shallow end). I think there should be a visible warning put up for this for the less confident swimmers. Loungers aren't a problem to get, usually fairly quiet around the pool. Luckily not many people were trying to reserve them. We'd usually get to the pool for about 10am and could pretty much take our pick of all the loungers. The pool bar opens anywhere from 11.30- 12.30 and shuts at from around 5-6pm as it's the same staff that does the breakfast and dinner service in the restaurant- Pedro and Daniel do a fab job. Aldi and Lidl are a 35min walk away/ 5mins in car and Praia da Rocha is a 15min walk where it is more lively. The beach is very busy but there is a great restaurant just on the right-hand side as you go down to the beach. Overall a fab place to stay and I would come back again.

Room was clean and the pull out couch wasn't too bad. Loved being so close to the beach and the walking path. We used the little shop that is on the premise a few times for snacks. The indoor pool was amazing, spent so much time there. Not sure if the water was 28 degrees but it didn't take too long to get use to the water. But the outdoor pool was hands down the coldest pool ever (and not in a refreshing way after a long hot day in the sun). We were there the last weekend in May. Really wish they had invested in a heated pool. Never put more than a toe in the big pool. Even the kids shallower pool was an iceberg. Luckily the indoor pool saved the experience.

Ravel

The hotel is very close to the beach and the Pools are good. However the food was extremly bland, covered in koriander and overal lacking in options. Hot meals were served lukewarm at best. Dinner tables are set with drinking glasses but no drinks were included, not even water. You had to order drinks seperatly which is done by bringing you a new glass with your drink order meaning there were always unused mystery glasses on each table. Furthermore the drinks menu had both dinner and breakfast options listed and staff refused to bring out drinks from the menu not corresponding to the mealtime (for example no Juices during dinner). Lastly the staff would play music trough the speakers (loudly) connecting their personal phones so you would even hear their social app pings from messages, and they would stand close behind you, watching, waiting for you to empty a plate so it could be taken away making us feel rushed. We used the hotel as a base to explore the area but it wasn't something we would recommend.

Very nice location. Great pools, a bit old fashioned design but clean and really big family suites. We especially enjoyed the service at the reception and restaurant (very friendly guy called ismail) top general service. Food very fresh and delicious. We had a great time at this hotel.

Absolutely beautiful location, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The views of the ocean are stunning. Paulo and his team put on the most spectacular breakfast. We have loved our stay. Location is central to beautiful beaches, and middle point in between tourist attractions. This place is a must stay. We will be back ❤️

Lovely hotel with a great location, staff and food. Breakfast is great and the evening dinner at the hotel restaurant is different each day of the week, especially the fresh fish, BBQ and Italian was amazing. The staff is extremely helpful, caring and kind. Special mention to Ismael, Mariana and Sylvia who made our stay a true holiday without a worry. The location of the hotel is great, with a big pool (quite cold) and plenty of place to sunbath on the (quite dry) lawn that looks out on the coastline. On either side of the hotel there are great beaches and there are good restaurants in the area (-15 mins walking).

Really enjoyed our holiday here. Fab hotel - the pool was great (cold but great!) and the sun loungers being on the grass all to one side gave a feeling of spaciousness. The room was very good too - we weren't expecting a separate sitting room and bedroom, so we had loads of space. The poolside bar served yummy food, the breakfast buffet had lots of choice and the evening bar was also good. The hotel is also very well located to access several beaches and several restaurants. Overall thumbs up and I'd happily come again.

Every aspect of the hotel was top class.Lovely food exceptional service and probably the one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. Lovely quiet and peaceful hotel with stunning views of the ocean. Beautiful clean pool! Still thinking about my amazing stay there genuinely came home feeling refreshed!

This was a very nice hotel. It is actually 6 buildings all joined together so has an interesting flow to it. The room we booked wound up having a queen sized bed and we needed a king or two singles. They were very accommodating and the bellman who helped us to our room said that the one with the two singles was a nicer room as it had a lovely view. He was absolutely right. The room was very clean but was quite a trek from the lobby. We were accustomed to doing a lot of walking so this wasn’t a hardship but did require some stair climbing so if you can’t do stairs at all make sure you let them know in advance. The pool area was nice and towels were provided. The woman at the bar was not very pleasant or friendly at all. All the other staff were friendly and helpful. There was a very good selection of breakfast at the buffet and the best hot chocolate I have ever had. You could eat outside (don’t turn your back or the seagulls will have your food) and a very large indoor seating area. We took the free shuttle to the beach but it was unbelievably hot so came back pretty quick. The walk to the main tourist area and restaurants was about 10 minutes and not at all unpleasant.

This is a 4 star hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is great, especially the waffles but you might want to avoid the boiled eggs as even the 5 minute ones are solid. Beware of the rooms, some are a bit treacherouse because of the steps, even for able bodied persons. I have included photos of these as one of our party fell foul of them and had an ankle injury as a result. The outdoor pool is very nice and has steps with a handrail plus ladders. It is the same depth all around. The town is within a short walk and is full of artisan shops and boutiques and entertainment in the main square. Some of the buildings are beautifully tiled. There are plenty of eateries to please all pockets and tastes in the town. Fish is fabulous and the large prawns delicious.

Decent hotel in a perfect location. Rooms were clean, ac worked great and breakfast buffet had good variety. Free parking was a nice bonus. Other than the lobby, the hotel is pretty dated. Some rooms could use a refresh. The fitness center is terrible. All machines were broken. They should be fixed if the hotel is advertising a gym.

We enjoyed our 4-night stay in Lagos, but the hotel itself is dated, underwhelming and in need of a deep clean and refresh. We had a “superior” room and it was very basic - and there was mold in our shower. Guest services are questionable. One evening, we asked the bartender for a cup of ice because the refrigerator in our room was not cold enough, and he told us we would have to order ice from room service and pay the minimum service charge of EUR5. We felt it was an unnecessary money grab - ice should be provided free of charge. On a more positive note, the location was excellent - it’s a quick walk into town for dinner and shopping. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to the beach, and free above ground parking.

All in all the hotel deserves 5 stars. Good hotel . Clean and well maintained rooms . Helpful and supportive staff . Good food in the dinner hall for breakfast and dinner . Restaurant staff are super helpful . Food range is very good too. On the downside the gym is minuscule and the hotel could benefit greatly by investing in a proper gym room suitable sized for the size of the hotel . Getting around the hotel is a bit of challenge with various lifts that don’t service all floors . But apart from that was a very good hotel to stay in.

Superb spot on the Algarve just a bit away from Lagos city centre but easy to get to via taxi, public bus or bike. Friendly staff and amazing breakfast buffet in the morning. The rooms are nice and modern but hallways, floors and carpet are a bit dated and could use a make-over to make this a 5 🌟 hotel.

The Iberostar Selection Lagos Algarve is located outside of Lagos and within a short walking distance from Meia Praia. Getting to Lagos involves a short drive or Uber ride into town. There is also a tourist train that stops outside, which takes you around the main sights in and around Lagos. The hotel is in a modern building with sea views, and the interior felt a bit corporate and sterile. We stayed in a comfortable junior suite with a sea view, although for the price it should have been a bit bigger. For food and drinks, we chose the all-inclusive option, which turned out to be a good choice. It included breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and free food from the snack bar, including drinks. We enjoyed the buffet, which was very good quality. We preferred however the snack bar, which was less crowded and a more relaxed place to eat and also sometimes had even better food than the buffet. There was a nice indoor pool which was heated and which we used, since the outdoor ones were not heated and were too cold to swim in this time of year. The gym was very small and crowded, and too warm inside due to being located in a room adjacent next to the indoor heated pool. There were a few activities scheduled each day, but generally not much to do at the hotel. We tried to book a massage at the spa but were informed by the staff that there was no availability for the next 2 days, which was disappointing. There was a Star Club for kids between 4-12, and a kids pool, but we didn't see many children at the hotel and it seemed like more of a place for adults. Overall, a nice stay but was it really worth the price and did the service and amenities live up to the expectations? In terms of value for money I would give it 3 stars.

Everything short of 5 stars would be totally inappropriate. This hotel is in excellent condition, very well maintained and super clean! Staff is very friendly and all speak multiple languages, of course all speak English. Food... wow, all you can imagine and everything is delicious! Note: I am German and cannot remember to have given any hotel 5 stars straight. Tiny little issue we had in a room with a bad smell from the sanitary installation, no problem to change the room.

My experience at this hotel was far below expectations, especially for the price. I was initially placed in a room designed for handicapped guests, and when I requested a change, the staff pushed back until I mentioned leaving a negative review. Only then did they offer me a different room. On the last day, housekeeping entered my room exactly at 11 AM without knocking, rushing me to leave because they were fully booked. For a 5-star hotel, this was unacceptable—at the very least, they should have called before entering. The overall cleaning service was also mediocre for a hotel of this caliber. I had planned to extend my stay but was told I couldn't stay in the same room and would need to move to a nearly identical room next door. When I questioned this, they suggested I book at a nearby hotel instead. To add to the disappointment, the pool water was too cold. Overall, the service did not live up to the 5-star rating or the price, and I will not be returning.
