Connected to Gouvia, Kontokali is a charming village situated on Corfu's eastern coast . It's a quiet little spot ideal for those who love nothing more than beach life and lazy days, traditional Greek haunts and leisurely walks. There is a choice of hotels including an exclusive luxury resort but for action, nightlife, more options and more shopping, then neighbouring Gouvia will service all your needs. Access via public transport to Ipsos and Dassia is also possible. A small choice of bars and tavernas can be found in Kontokali and the beach itself, although owned by Kontokali Beach Hotel, is open for all and offers facilities such as a bar and restaurant, showers and toilets. Sun loungers and umbrellas can be hired and the beach is considered a safe play zone for children with the water being very shallow in parts.
Staying in Kontokali Bay means sultry sun, perfect relaxation, a slower pace and generally a rejuvenating holiday in typical Greek fashion. A few tavernas welcome you in and there are a couple of restaurants serving English, Chinese, traditional Greek dishes and fish and seafood. Next door, and Gouvia offers nightlife and many bars, access to Dassia, Corfu Town and several neighbouring resorts will fill your days if you fancy a change and can easily be accessed by public transport. It's only a short walk to Gouvia but further afield and the option of taxis, mopeds for the more experienced, boat trips and so on will have you there at a reasonable price.
Being in Kontokali means visitors are close to the ruins of a castle said to be the home of a former Venetian Knight and a small church thought to be the oldest in Corfu. Gouvia also displays the arches and remains of a former Venetian shipyard and of course Kontokali's marina is beautiful whatever time of the day but especially as the sun is setting, casting it's dazzling rays over the water.
