Gouvia is an upmarket resort situated on the east coast with Corfu Town being approximately 8km away. This delightful resort boasts several beaches consisting of shingle, pebble and sand, and there are many small coves around the resort accessible by boat. Swimming is considered to be safe for young ones here and there is a multitude of water sports to keep all ages active and satisfied. Gouvia offers a stunning marina where exclusive yachts are moored along with traditional fishing boats. The atmosphere is pleasant and friendly with locals happy to welcome and assist holiday makers. Come night-time, the resort is awash with the holiday spirit of things; namely bars, restaurants and a good nightlife. Being a former Venetian Port, there is still evidence of this further on in the village, it's located at the point of meeting the neighbouring resort of Kontokali. There are some fantastic places to sit and soak up the relaxing atmosphere or hire a car and explore the olive groves and plantations surrounding Gouvia. Being roughly in the middle of Corfu, you are within easy reach of most places.
Primarily a beach resort, Gouvia has a number of shops on the main street selling a variety of essentials and souvenirs. A wider and more varied shopping trip can be experienced in Corfu Town. There are many cafes and bars along the waterfront and great restaurants serving all manner of cuisine as well as traditional Greek. The beaches are superb for the fine array of water sports, boat trips, and the gateway to exploring nearby coves. Gouvia has an all-round charming atmosphere that also offers good night life for all ages.
Hire a bike or car and the whole of Corfu becomes an easy day trip or two! The coastal roads, green hills, secluded beaches, neighbouring villages and resorts such as Kommeno are great places to visit and of course Corfu Town offers a good selection of history and heritage.
